This is more than an efficiency focused derivative. Hyundai has added hybrid specific driving technology and an engine off cabin mode, while the new body provides more passenger and cargo space than before.
Art Of Steel Gives Tucson More Presence
Hyundai's Art of Steel design moves the Tucson toward cleaner surfaces and stronger proportions. Pronounced fenders carry much of the visual weight, set against restrained doors and crisp body lines.
H Edge lighting stretches the front visually through indirect centre and edge illumination. At the opposite end, Prism Rear Lamps use a sculptural three dimensional design and intricate internal pattern.
The long wheelbase Tucson measures 4,700 mm long, 1,905 mm wide and 1,685 mm tall, riding on a 2,785 mm wheelbase. Wheel choices range from 17 to 20 inches.
Larger Cabin Adds Useful Space
The Tucson remains a five seater but benefits from its larger footprint. Hyundai quotes 1,064 mm of second row legroom and 1,067 litres of cargo space using its domestic SAE measurement.
Rear door opening angles increase from 73 to 83 degrees. Inside, a two layer dashboard combines a horizontal upper surface with a deep storage tray below.
A 9.9 inch driver display is joined by either a 12.9 or 17 inch Pleos Connect touchscreen. The Android Automotive OS based system supports Gleo AI, third party apps and over the air updates.
Hybrid Produces 233 HP In US Trim
The US specification 2027 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid develops 233 hp. Hyundai's technical data lists a 13 kW P1 motor and 47.7 kW P2 motor, supported by a 1.49 kWh, 270 volt battery and six speed automatic transmission.
Zero to 60 mph takes 8.5 seconds. Hyundai targets up to 42 mpg for the North American two wheel drive model on 17 inch wheels. The equivalent four wheel drive version is listed at up to 40 mpg with 17 inch wheels.
E Traction is exclusive to the hybrid. It adjusts driving torque to reduce wheel slip during cornering and increase inner tire grip.
Stay Mode Adds Engine Off Usability
HEV Stay Mode allows occupants to use air conditioning, heating, audio and device charging while the combustion engine remains switched off.
For North America, Hyundai also quotes up to 3,000 pounds, or 1,361 kg, of towing capacity for the four wheel drive hybrid.
The Tucson Hybrid therefore sits between the conventional gasoline model and the 292 PS plug in hybrid. Its focus remains straightforward: useful electric assistance without requiring external charging, paired with the additional space and technology introduced across the new generation.
