2027 Maserati GranTurismo 490 CV

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • The entry-level GranTurismo runs the V6 Nettuno at 483hp (roughly 490 CV), sitting below the 582hp Trofeo and 751hp Folgore electric version in the range.

  • Styling changes include a fully redesigned front end with boundary-layer air intakes, a CFD-developed air curtain and a new central splitter, plus new rear lighting with clear lenses.

  • All GranTurismo trims get standard all-wheel drive, adjustable air spring suspension, a Sportivo exhaust in North America, and a new digital cockpit with 12.3-inch, 8.8-inch and 12.2-inch displays.

Maserati timed its GranTurismo refresh for 2026, revealed as part of a wider Trident range update in the brand's centenary year. The entry-level version — 483 horsepower, which works out to roughly 490 CV in metric terms — sits at the base of a three-tier lineup that also includes a 582hp Trofeo and a 751hp Folgore electric model.

Exterior Design

The front end is where most of the visual work happened. Maserati redesigned the air intakes to include slots for boundary-layer aspiration, added an external air curtain shaped using CFD analysis, and fitted a central splitter aimed at improving front downforce. Around back, new clear lenses freshen up the lighting signature. The entry trim rides on Crio wheels with satin chrome exterior details, a more restrained look compared to the Trofeo's forged Pegaso wheels and exposed carbon fibre. Buyers chasing something bolder can step up to optional Tridente wheels in gloss black, which widen the track by 10mm.

Proportions and Stance

Maserati frames the GranTurismo as the coupé expression of its grand touring lineup, distinct from the GranCabrio's open-top format, and the design language carries over from the brand's MCXtrema track car through the GT2 Stradale and MCPURA before landing here.

Interior Space and Technology

Inside, the entry-level cabin gets full-grain leather with wood trim accents — the GranCabrio version substitutes carbon-fibre panels instead. A new racing-inspired steering wheel features flat upper and lower sections with dark satin aluminium spokes. The instrument cluster has been redone too: a renewed Maserati Digital Clock now uses a metal bezel, octagonal shape and a pop-up function for switching modes, alongside a PRND selector with three-dimensional metal controls. The broader digital interface spans a 12.3-inch central display, an 8.8-inch Comfort display, a customizable 12.2-inch instrument cluster and a head-up display. Maserati has also added a new system that monitors driver distraction and fatigue.

Powertrain and Performance

Power comes from the twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 Nettuno, sharing patented Formula 1-derived MTC technology with the MCPURA, and running cylinder deactivation for efficiency. On the entry-level version this delivers 483hp, with 479 lb-ft of torque available across the range. All-wheel drive is standard across every GranTurismo trim, along with adjustable air spring suspension. In North America, the Sportivo exhaust is standard on every internal-combustion trim. Drive modes on the 483hp version include the new Country setting, which raises ride height by 20mm, along with Sport and GT modes; Launch Control is available in Sport.

Practical Usability

Maserati still positions the GranTurismo as a genuine four-seater rather than a strict 2+2, describing all trims as capable of carrying four people in comfort — part of what the brand calls its "fully-fledged grand tourer" positioning.

Market Positioning

Maserati is pitching the refreshed range as reinforcing its place in the luxury segment during its Trident centenary year, alongside updates to the GranCabrio and Grecale.
