2026 Nissan X-Trail N-Trek

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • Rugged N Trek grade adds distinctive off road inspired styling.

  • Nissan e POWER hybrid system with optional e 4ORCE all wheel drive.

  • Google built in infotainment and upgraded 3D Around View Monitor.

Rugged Character Strengthens the X Trail Design

The 2026 Nissan X Trail N Trek arrives as the latest evolution of Nissan’s long running family SUV, a model that has carried the X Trail name for more than two decades. For the 2026 model year, the formula remains familiar: a practical electrified SUV with genuine everyday usability, now presented with a tougher visual edge.

The design revisions are immediately noticeable at the front. Nissan has widened and simplified the V Motion grille, giving the X Trail a more planted look on the road. The change is subtle but effective. Combined with reshaped lower bumpers and reworked side vents, the front fascia reads cleaner and more assertive than before.

Further down the body, glossy black wheel arch surrounds, side sills and mirrors create a darker lower visual line. This detail emphasises the vehicle’s height and reinforces the SUV stance that has long defined the X Trail. New full LED taillights sharpen the rear lighting signature, while fresh exterior colours such as Sukomo Blue and Coastal Dune expand the palette.

For a vehicle that has built its reputation on practicality rather than theatrics, the visual adjustments feel measured rather than dramatic.

N Trek Grade Adds a More Adventurous Identity

The N Trek grade introduces the most distinctive styling in the 2026 range. It is clearly aimed at buyers who see the X Trail as more than just a family crossover.

Externally, the N Trek specification features 19 inch alloy wheels, black roof rails, and full LED headlamps, alongside rugged lower bumper treatments that underline the model’s off road leaning image.

A unique design detail appears in the form of magma red accents on bumper inserts and contrast interior stitching. Even the Nissan logos receive black and red finishes, giving the trim a more individual identity within the X Trail lineup.

Inside, practicality takes priority. Waterproof CellCloth upholstery, rubber cabin mats and a reversible cargo liner are designed to handle muddy equipment or wet outdoor gear without fuss. It is a thoughtful touch for families who use the vehicle beyond city streets.

A large panoramic glass roof further brightens the cabin, adding a sense of space to what is already one of the more versatile interiors in the segment.

Electrified e POWER Hybrid System

Power continues to come from Nissan’s e POWER hybrid system, a setup that uses a petrol engine primarily as a generator while the wheels are driven by an electric motor.

This configuration allows the X Trail to deliver the immediate response associated with electric drive without requiring external charging. Output reaches 204 hp in two wheel drive form and 213 hp when paired with the e 4ORCE all wheel drive system.

Acceleration to 62 mph takes around 8.0 seconds for the 2WD version and 7.0 seconds for the e 4ORCE model, while combined efficiency is rated at 49.6 mpg WLTP.

For many buyers, the appeal lies in the blend of smooth electric like drive and the reassurance of a petrol powered energy source.

Cabin Technology Expands with Google Built In

Technology also receives attention in the 2026 update. The latest NissanConnect system now integrates Google built in, giving drivers direct access to Google Assistant voice control, navigation and downloadable apps through the Play Store.

Alongside this, Nissan introduces an upgraded 3D Around View Monitor capable of displaying multiple camera perspectives around the vehicle. The system includes an “Invisible Hood” function that allows drivers to see the placement of the front wheels when navigating tight obstacles, as well as a T Junction view for improved visibility when emerging from concealed intersections.

Enhanced ProPILOT Assist features also refine lane keeping and braking behaviour, contributing to a calmer driving experience in traffic.

Positioning in the Electrified Family SUV Market

The 2026 Nissan X Trail N Trek enters the market with pricing starting from £38,220, available in Acenta Premium, N Connecta, N Trek and Tekna grades.

That positioning places it squarely within the increasingly crowded mid size electrified SUV segment. Competitors include hybrid family crossovers that emphasise efficiency and versatility rather than outright performance.

The X Trail’s strength remains its balance. A practical interior, electrified drivetrain and genuine all weather capability.

For many buyers, that combination is exactly the point.
