2025 Nissan X-Trail NISMO
By Lorenzo Bianchi August 21, 2025
Performance enhancements include Kayaba Swing Valve dampers, retuned springs, optimized steering, and recalibrated e-4ORCE AWD for focused dynamics.
Uses the standard 1.5L turbo e-Power hybrid system (105 kW engine + 150 kW front and 100 kW rear electric motors), delivering 211 hp and 525 Nm torque—no extra power added.
Distinctive NISMO styling includes 20″ Enkei wheels on Michelin Pilot Sport EV tyres, red exterior accents, improved downforce (−29%), and sport-oriented cabin touches with optional Recaro seats.
Sport-Tuned, Not Overpowered
Nissan’s NISMO division applied its performance sensibilities to the practical X‑Trail for the first time. Rather than boosting engine output, the X‑Trail NISMO focuses on handling refinement, using Kayaba Swing Valve dampers to reduce body roll and improve ride comfort. The steering feel has been recalibrated, and the renowned e-4ORCE AWD system is retuned for enhanced rear torque and better cornering precision. Drive mode selections further adjust throttle mapping and power distribution for varying driving scenarios.
Familiar Hybrid Powertrain Stays Intact
Performance remains in the hands of Nissan’s proven e-Power hybrid system—a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine (105 kW / 250 Nm) that generates electricity for dual motors (150 kW front, 100 kW rear)—delivering 211 hp and 525 Nm. Output remains unchanged, prioritizing driving engagement and efficiency through drivetrain refinement rather than straight-line strength.
NISMO Styling Signals Intent
Visual and aerodynamic upgrades sharpen the X‑Trail’s character:
- 20″ Enkei alloy wheels wrapped in high-grip Michelin Pilot Sport EV tires;
- Red-accented NISMO body kit with unique grille, mirror caps, spoilers, and rear diffuser;
- Dark chrome trim and downforce-enhancing aero, delivering 29% reduced lift compared to standard trim;
- Available in Stealth Grey with Super Black roof, among other bespoke finishes.
Inside, the cabin adopts a performance aesthetic with black-and-red materials, NISMO-specific stitching, a red start button, and optional heated Recaro leather/Alcantara seats. All trims are exclusively five-seat configuration.
Targeted Exclusivity for the Japanese Market
Scheduled for launch in Japan from September 24, 2025, the X‑Trail NISMO caters to driving enthusiasts seeking heightened dynamics in a family-ready SUV body. Nissan Australia confirmed no plans to release the model locally. The NISMO badge underscores Nissan’s commitment to performance across its lineup—even in rugged SUVs.
