2026 BMW iX3 40 NA5 UK Version
By Lorenzo Bianchi October 2, 2026
Single rear motor produces 320 hp and 500 Nm, with 0 to 62 mph in 5.9 seconds.
An 82.6 kWh usable battery delivers up to 395 miles of provisional WLTP range.
UK pricing starts at £53,250 OTR, with availability from summer 2026.
The 2026 BMW iX3 40 UK Version becomes the new entry point to BMW's electric Neue Klasse SUV range, sitting below the iX3 50 xDrive. It keeps the same exterior and interior design and identical standard specification, but switches to a single motor, rear wheel drive layout.
That also brings the starting price down to £53,250 OTR. UK availability begins in summer 2026. New_entry-level_BMW_iX3_added_t…
Neue Klasse Styling Carries Over
Visually, BMW has not created a stripped back version of the iX3 for the 40. The familiar Neue Klasse treatment remains, including the reinterpreted kidney grille and light signature.
BMW describes the exterior around precise lines and expansive surfaces, with a cleaner approach than earlier generations. More importantly for buyers comparing the two iX3 versions, the 40 shares its styling and standard equipment with the more powerful iX3 50 xDrive.
The release does not provide separate wheel sizes, exterior dimensions or iX3 40 specific design elements.
Panoramic iDrive Shapes The Cabin
Inside, BMW Panoramic iDrive runs the company's new Operating System X. Touch, haptic and voice controls are combined into a single operating concept, while the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant can manage functions including climate control, windows, seating comfort, calls and entertainment.
Amazon Alexa+ functionality is also planned for the system. Its availability will expand gradually, starting in Germany and the USA.
Again, BMW says the iX3 40 receives the same standard specification as the iX3 50 xDrive rather than a reduced equipment package.
Rear Motor Produces 320 HP
The biggest change is underneath. A sixth generation BMW eDrive electrically excited synchronous motor is mounted at the rear axle, producing 320 hp and 500 Nm.
That is enough for 0 to 62 mph in 5.9 seconds and a 124 mph top speed. The architecture also incorporates BMW's Heart of Joy control computer and Dynamic Performance Control software.
BMW's Soft Stop function uses precise electric motor control to bring the vehicle to a halt without the conventional final braking jerk.
300 KW Charging Adds 186 Miles
The iX3 40 uses an 82.6 kWh usable battery with cylindrical lithium ion cells and an 800 volt electrical architecture. Provisional WLTP range reaches 395 miles.
Maximum DC charging power is 300 kW. Under suitable conditions, BMW says 10 minutes can add up to 186 miles, while a 10 to 80 percent charge takes 21 minutes. Standard AC charging is 11 kW, with optional 22 kW charging reducing a full charge to four hours and 15 minutes.
Bidirectional charging is supported.
At £53,250, the iX3 40 gives BMW a lower priced Neue Klasse SUV for UK buyers who do not require the dual motor xDrive system, while retaining the design and standard specification of the iX3 50 xDrive.
