Maserati GranSport MC Victory Celebrates FIA GT Success

The 2006 Maserati GranSport MC Victory has been introduced as a limited-production sports car celebrating the Italian manufacturer's victory in the 2005 FIA GT Manufacturers' Cup.

Scheduled for its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show, the special edition draws inspiration from the championship-winning Maserati MC12, particularly its aerodynamic development and competition-focused interior.

Only 180 individually numbered examples will be produced, with sales scheduled to begin in May 2006.

Based on the existing GranSport, the MC Victory introduces revised exterior components, additional standard equipment and distinctive cabin materials rather than an entirely new vehicle architecture.

Blue Carbon Spoilers and MC12 Inspired Exterior Details

The most noticeable changes appear around the front and rear of the GranSport MC Victory.

Both spoilers use blue carbon fibre, giving the special edition a distinctive appearance while maintaining a direct connection to Maserati's racing programme.

Italian flag detailing is embedded into the side panels, another design element borrowed from the MC12.

The front splitter has also been redesigned, featuring two additional lateral aerodynamic profiles and a more pronounced forward extension.

These changes are intended to increase aerodynamic loading at higher speeds.

Maserati has not announced revised exterior dimensions or wheelbase measurements for the special edition.

Revised Front Splitter Improves High Speed Stability

The aerodynamic modifications are not limited to appearance.

According to Maserati, the redesigned splitter increases the load acting on the front of the vehicle during high-speed driving.

The manufacturer also highlights more direct and precise steering, alongside improved stability at higher speeds.

These characteristics reflect the development priorities of the MC12 racing programme.

The MC Victory retains the underlying GranSport configuration, with the additional aerodynamic elements concentrating on the car's handling behaviour.

Wheel dimensions, suspension specifications and individual tyre sizes are not provided in the supplied announcement.

Racing Carbon Seats With Alcantara and Leather

Inside, the GranSport MC Victory receives a combination of blue carbon fibre, leather and Alcantara.

The carbon components follow the same colour treatment as the exterior spoilers, establishing a consistent appearance throughout the vehicle.

Alcantara covers the upper dashboard and door panels, while the central sections of the racing carbon seats use the same material.

The steering wheel also receives Alcantara trim, selected partly for its grip characteristics.

Leather surfaces complete the interior treatment.

Maserati describes the cabin as having a direct connection to the MC12, although the announcement does not specify changes to infotainment or other dashboard technology.

GranSport Powertrain and Limited Production Plans

The MC Victory is derived from the standard GranSport, but Maserati's announcement does not disclose a separate engine output, transmission specification or acceleration figure for this edition.

No mechanical powertrain revisions are identified in the supplied release.

Instead, the technical emphasis falls on aerodynamic efficiency and steering precision, supported by the redesigned front splitter.

Production is limited to 180 numbered vehicles, distinguishing the MC Victory from regular GranSport models.

The special edition will reach the market in May 2006 following its Geneva Motor Show premiere, commemorating Maserati's return to championship-winning GT racing.
