2006 Maserati MC12 Versione Corse
By Lorenzo Bianchi October 17, 2006
The 2006 Maserati MC12 Versione Corse is limited to 12 units worldwide, developed from the championship-winning MC12 GT1 for private track sessions and Maserati-organised exhibitions.
Its naturally aspirated 6.0-litre V12 produces 755 hp and 710 Nm, delivering 0–200 km/h in 6.4 seconds and a maximum speed of 326 km/h.
The Versione Corse features a carbon fibre monocoque, Cambiocorsa transmission, 18-inch racing wheels and a two-seat competition interior. Deliveries begin in December 2006.
Maserati MC12 Versione Corse Brings GT1 Performance to Customers
The 2006 Maserati MC12 Versione Corse has been introduced as a limited-production supercar developed specifically for private track driving.
Based on the MC12 GT1 racing car, the Versione Corse gives selected Maserati customers access to a machine closely related to the manufacturer's successful international GT programme.
The competition car secured the FIA GT1 Manufacturers Cup in 2005, Teams Championships in 2005 and 2006, and the Drivers Championship in 2006. It also won the 24 Hours of Spa in both years.
Only 12 examples of the Versione Corse will be produced.
Unlike the road-going MC12, this version is not homologated for public roads or competitive racing. Its use is restricted to private test sessions and exhibition activities organised by Maserati.
Blue Victory Paint and Personalised Racing Liveries
The MC12 Versione Corse is officially offered in Blue Victory, a colour associated with Maserati's racing programme.
Customers can request alternative exterior colours and liveries, allowing each example to carry a different visual identity.
The supplied announcement does not detail new body dimensions or aerodynamic changes compared with the MC12 GT1.
Instead, the Versione Corse builds directly on the competition car's engineering, with its carbon fibre monocoque forming the foundation.
Its dry weight is listed at 1,150 kg, giving the car a weight-to-power ratio of 1.52 kg per horsepower.
18 Inch Racing Wheels and Brembo Brakes
The Versione Corse uses 18-inch wheels, measuring 12 inches wide at the front and 13 inches at the rear.
Maserati specifies racing tyres sized 650/325/18 at the front and 705/325/18 behind.
Braking is handled by Brembo steel and carbon components, without ABS.
Customers can also request manually adjustable shock absorbers, allowing suspension settings to be adapted for specific track conditions.
Optional data acquisition equipment and annual technical upgrades from Maserati's research and development team extend the car's track-focused specification.
755 HP V12 Delivers 326 KM/H Top Speed
Power comes from a 6.0-litre naturally aspirated V12 producing 755 hp at 8,000 rpm and 710 Nm at 6,000 rpm.
That represents a substantial increase over the 600 hp output quoted for the MC12 GT1 in Maserati's comparison.
The engine is paired with a Cambiocorsa electro-actuated gearbox, replacing the racing car's manually operated sequential transmission.
Maserati quotes acceleration from 0 to 200 km/h in 6.4 seconds, with a maximum speed of 326 km/h.
Two Seat Racing Cabin and Limited Availability
Unlike the single-seat GT1 competition car, the Versione Corse accommodates two occupants.
The interior follows a racing specification and includes a roll bar, although Maserati has not detailed its upholstery or dashboard equipment.
The car is available worldwide, with an ex-factory price of €1 million before taxes.
Deliveries are scheduled to begin in December 2006, making the Versione Corse a separate offering for collectors seeking access to Maserati's GT1-derived engineering outside sanctioned competition.
