Jaguar Goes to Party in China with a Non-Electric Car for Its 90th Birthday
  • Limited-run XFL celebrates Jaguar’s 90th year with a China-only release.

  • Long-wheelbase sedan offered with two petrol engine outputs.

  • Launch arrives ahead of Jaguar’s move to a fully electric lineup in 2026.

Jaguar is marking its 90th anniversary with a trip to one of its most important markets. The XFL 90th Anniversary Collector’s Edition, revealed for China, is based on the stretched version of the XF and offers an extra 140 mm in wheelbase for improved rear passenger comfort. It’s a format that has proven popular in the country, and Jaguar is making this anniversary model exclusive to local buyers.

The exterior changes are subtle but deliberate. Gloss black replaces chrome on the grille, window surrounds and lower intake surrounds, giving the sedan a more modern and discreet look. A commemorative badge identifies the edition, though the overall shape and proportions remain in line with the rest of the XF range.

Under the bonnet sits a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine available in two outputs. One produces 250 hp and 365 Nm of torque, the other 300 hp and 400 Nm. Both versions are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The setup is tuned for smooth, refined performance, making it well suited for city driving as well as longer intercity journeys.

Inside, the focus is on space and usability. The Pivi Pro infotainment system is fitted as standard and is supported by physical controls for core functions. Materials and finishes reflect the model’s special-edition status, while the extra wheelbase translates directly into increased legroom in the rear. For many buyers in this segment, that is as important as engine output.

Pricing starts at 269,800 CNY (around $37,500) for the 90th Anniversary Collector’s Edition, with an “Exclusive Deluxe” version available from 239,800 CNY (about $33,400). Both remain exclusive to China, underlining the strategic role of the market for long-wheelbase luxury sedans.

This launch comes just ahead of Jaguar’s transition to a fully electric lineup. In 2026 the company will introduce a new four-door GT with a projected range of 692 km. That makes the 90th Anniversary XFL one of the final petrol sedans in Jaguar’s lineup, a model that marks the close of one chapter while the next one — entirely electric — comes into view.
