The longest range version covers up to 454 km WLTP and supports 105 kW DC charging.
Its 441 litre luggage compartment is more than 25 percent larger than the petrol Polo's.
Familiar Polo Shape Moves onto MEB Plus
The 2027 Volkswagen ID. Polo takes one of Volkswagen's longest-running names into the electric era without turning the car into an unfamiliar design exercise. This is the seventh Polo generation, following more than 20 million sales over five decades, but underneath it sits the enhanced MEB+ electric architecture rather than the MQB platform used by the petrol model.
Its proportions remain recognisably hatchback-like. A wide 1,522 mm track, flared wheel arches and wheels measuring up to 19 inches give the ID. Polo a planted appearance. Up front, slim headlights flank a glass-covered horizontal element, while selected versions add an illuminated light strip and VW badge. Volkswagen quotes a drag coefficient of 0.264.
The side view is deliberately straightforward. Strong horizontal lines run through the doors, while the C-pillar takes inspiration from compact Volkswagens of the past. At the rear, the window stretches into those pillars beneath a roof spoiler. A glass-covered lighting bar then draws attention across the width of the tail.
More Cabin Space Without Becoming a Bigger Class of Car
The switch to MEB+ has brought useful packaging gains. Interior length increases by 19 mm, with more width and headroom available for passengers. Boot capacity rises from 351 litres in the combustion-powered Polo to 441 litres, expanding to 1,240 litres when the rear seats are folded.
Volkswagen has also mixed screens with conventional controls rather than moving every function into the touchscreen. A 10-inch Digital Cockpit sits alongside a 13-inch infotainment display, while climate functions receive their own physical button panel and audio volume is handled by a rotary controller.
One unusual detail is the Retro display. It can transform the digital instruments into graphics resembling those of a late first-generation Golf, substituting the old rev counter with an electric power and recuperation display.
Front Wheel Drive with Three Power Outputs
Unlike Volkswagen's larger rear- and all-wheel-drive ID models, the ID. Polo introduces an electric front-wheel-drive layout. Its compact APP290 permanent-magnet synchronous motor weighs 75 kg and works with a single-speed gearbox.
Outputs are 85 kW (116 PS), 99 kW (135 PS) and 155 kW (211 PS). The two lower-output cars use a 37 kWh LFP battery, while the 211 PS version receives a 52 kWh NMC pack and 290 Nm of torque.
In 211 PS Life specification, Volkswagen quotes 454 km of WLTP range and 0–100 km/h in 7.1 seconds. The 52 kWh battery can charge from 10 to 80 percent in around 24 minutes under optimal conditions.
For everyday use, the ID. Polo also brings one-pedal driving, an available heat pump, towing capacity of up to 1,200 kg on 155 kW versions and an optional PowerSocket capable of supplying up to 3.6 kW to external electrical equipment.
