2027 Subaru WRX GD25

The WRX GD25 commemorates the GD chassis code used by the first WRX sold in the U.S. in 2002.
World Rally Blue paint, gold 19 inch wheels and an STI dry carbon swan neck wing define the anniversary model.
A 271 hp 2.4 litre turbo Boxer, six speed manual and Symmetrical AWD remain at its core.
The 2027 Subaru WRX GD25 looks back to the sedan that established the WRX name in the United States 25 years ago. Revealed at Boxerfest 2026 in York, Pennsylvania, the limited production model borrows the GD chassis code used by the first U.S. market WRX in 2002.
Only 350 examples are planned, all finished in World Rally Blue and fitted with a six speed manual transmission. Reservations begin in 2026, with deliveries scheduled for summer 2027.
World Rally Blue Meets Gold Wheels
The color combination does much of the historical work. World Rally Blue is paired with gold painted 19 inch alloy wheels, immediately recalling Subaru's long association with rallying.
There is a more contemporary motorsport connection at the rear. Subaru Tecnica International supplies a dry carbon fiber swan neck wing, the same component used on Travis Pastrana's WRX ARA25L rally car.
Gold painted Brembo brake calipers sit behind the wheels, while Bridgestone Potenza S007 high performance tires complete the exterior package.
Chassis Changes Go Beyond The Color Scheme
Subaru has made mechanical changes beneath the familiar WRX sedan body rather than limiting the GD25 to heritage graphics.
A flexible strut tower bar is fitted under the hood to increase rigidity. The suspension receives stiffer springs and revised damper calibration, working with the Potenza S007 tires. Subaru describes the setup as intended to provide more composed cornering.
Detailed dimensions, tire sizes and changes to vehicle weight have not been disclosed in the supplied release. Subaru says fuller specifications will be announced closer to launch.
Recaro Seats Add A Focused Cabin
The interior receives performance design Recaro seats trimmed with black Ultrasuede inserts and contrasting red stitching.
An STI shift knob is also included. More importantly for drivers who want the traditional WRX layout, the GD25 is offered exclusively with a six speed manual transmission. Subaru adds an STI short shifter to the package.
The release does not identify changes to the infotainment system, digital displays, rear seating or cargo capacity, suggesting the anniversary treatment is concentrated on the driving environment and performance hardware.
271 HP Boxer Keeps Symmetrical AWD
Power comes from Subaru's 2.4 litre turbocharged Boxer engine, producing 271 hp. Drive is sent through the six speed manual transmission to Subaru's Symmetrical All Wheel Drive system.
That makes the suspension, brakes, tires and additional chassis bracing more significant than outright engine output when separating the anniversary car from the broader WRX range.
Only 350 Cars Are Planned
The GD25 arrives alongside the 2027 BRZ ZC15, another limited anniversary model revealed at Boxerfest. While the BRZ celebrates 15 years in the U.S., the WRX reaches back 25 years to its original American introduction.
With production capped at 350 units, the GD25 packages that history into a specification built around World Rally Blue, gold wheels, manual shifting and a genuine STI motorsport derived rear wing.
