2027 Mitsubishi ASX VR-e EV Australian Version

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • The Mitsubishi ASX VR-e introduces four Australian variants: LS, ASPIRE, EXCEED and GSR, with rear-wheel drive or dual-motor all-wheel drive.

  • The flagship GSR produces 342 kW and 700 Nm, reaching 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, while rear-wheel-drive variants produce 171 kW and 350 Nm.

  • Pininfarina-designed bodywork, a 15.6-inch infotainment screen, 57.7 kWh LFP battery and up to 134 kW DC charging feature across the range.

Mitsubishi ASX VR-e Brings Electric Power to Australia

Mitsubishi has detailed the new ASX VR-e for Australia, introducing a battery-electric small SUV with Pininfarina styling and a choice of rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.

The 2027 Mitsubishi ASX VR-e Australian Version is offered in four grades: LS, ASPIRE, EXCEED and GSR.

Mitsubishi confirmed an Australian showroom arrival in late 2026, marking its return to the battery-electric passenger vehicle segment following the earlier i-MiEV.

Pininfarina Exterior With Active Aerodynamics

The ASX VR-e's exterior was developed by Italian design house Pininfarina, with aerodynamic efficiency influencing several visible details.

The front bumper incorporates an S-Duct that channels air through a lower opening before directing it across the upper front surface.

Air curtains manage airflow around the vehicle, while active grille shutters regulate cooling requirements.

Flush-mounted door handles and specially designed alloy wheels contribute to the relatively uninterrupted exterior surfaces.

The Australian colour selection includes Stealth Black, Solstice Red, Pacific Blue, Magnetic Grey, Polar White and Sage Green.

GSR variants are also available with contrasting black roof finishes.

Compact SUV Proportions and Wheel Options

The ASX VR-e measures 4,315 mm long, 1,885 mm wide and 1,535 mm high, with a 2,800 mm wheelbase.

These dimensions place the electric Mitsubishi within the small SUV segment while providing a relatively long wheelbase for its overall length.

Entry-level LS models receive 18-inch alloy wheels, while EXCEED introduces 20-inch two-tone wheels.

The GSR carries over the EXCEED equipment specification, adding its dual-motor drivetrain and distinctive exterior colour options.

Digital Cabin With Physical Climate Controls

Inside, every ASX VR-e receives a 15.6-inch central touchscreen and a 9.2-inch digital driver display.

The floating infotainment screen manages vehicle settings, while physical switches remain available for climate control, demisters and hazard lights.

A configurable favourites button provides quicker access to selected functions.

ASPIRE introduces electrically adjustable front seats, heating and cooling functions, and 64-colour ambient lighting.

EXCEED adds a panoramic glass roof and a 12-speaker SEAS audio system.

GSR models feature black artificial leather and microsuede upholstery with blue stitching.

Dual Motor GSR Produces 342 kW

All four variants use a 57.7 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery.

The rear-wheel-drive models produce 171 kW and 350 Nm, accelerating from 0–100 km/h in 6.8 seconds.

The GSR adds a front electric motor, raising combined output to 342 kW and 700 Nm.

Its 3.9-second acceleration time makes it Mitsubishi Australia's quickest officially sold model in the 0–100 km/h sprint.

Charging, Practicality and Australian Availability

DC charging supports up to 134 kW, while AC charging is limited to 6.6 kW.

Vehicle-to-Load functionality is standard, alongside adjustable regenerative braking.

ASPIRE and higher grades also receive a front luggage compartment and a 360-degree camera.

Mitsubishi provides an eight-year, 160,000 km battery warranty.
