2027 Mercedes-Benz GLC 53 AMG X254 UK Version
By Lorenzo Bianchi August 21, 2026
UK pricing for the SUV runs from £79,250 OTR on AMG Premium to £92,250 OTR on the range-topping Edition 53, effective from June 2026 production.
The 449hp inline-six mild-hybrid powertrain, paired with a 22hp electric assist motor, gets the SUV to 62mph in 4.2 seconds and on to a 155mph top speed.
Edition 53 adds AMG DYNAMIC PLUS with RACE and DRIFT modes, an electronic rear-axle locking differential, and 21-inch cross-spoke forged wheels with a gold rim flange.
A Familiar Shape, Updated for June Production
Mercedes-Benz is rolling out Model Year 807 changes to the GLC lineup starting in June 2026 production, and the AMG 53 sits at the top of both body styles — SUV and Coupé. UK pricing runs across three AMG-specific grades: AMG Premium, AMG Premium Plus and the range-topping Edition 53, with the SUV undercutting the Coupé by roughly £2,000 across the board.
Exterior Presence Without Excess Add-Ons
AMG Premium arrives with 21-inch Y-spoke wheels in matte black, a silver-painted brake caliper setup, and DIGITAL LIGHT headlamps with Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus. Edition 53 pushes further with 21-inch cross-spoke forged wheels finished in matte black with a gold rim flange, a darkened AMG-specific radiator grille, black chrome badging on the boot lid and wings, and dedicated Edition decals. Roof rails come in black across the AMG lineup, with a polished aluminum finish available separately through the Classic Design Package.
A Cabin Built Around Carbon Fibre and Nappa Leather
Inside, AMG Premium standardizes AMG leather upholstery, a Nappa leather and MICROCUT microfibre performance steering wheel, and a dashboard finished in AMG carbon fibre. Edition 53 swaps in carbon fibre with metal thread detailing and AMG leather finished in black with beige contrast stitching, alongside illuminated door sills carrying AMG lettering rather than the standard Mercedes-Benz script. MBUX Augmented Reality Navigation and a Head-Up Display are included across the AMG grades, along with AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension and AMG DYNAMIC SELECT drive modes.
The Inline-Six Does the Heavy Lifting
Every GLC 53 4MATIC+ runs a 2,999cc inline-six mild hybrid, producing 449 horsepower from the combustion engine plus a 22-horsepower assist from the integrated starter motor, for 600Nm of combined torque. That's enough to move the SUV to 62mph in 4.2 seconds with a 155mph top speed, or 4.2 seconds and 155mph on the Coupé as well. Actual mass runs from 2,137 to 2,173kg on the SUV, and the model can tow up to 2,400kg braked.
Options That Push the Car Further
Buyers stepping up to Pro Performance Package, priced at £7,500 on AMG Premium and Premium Plus, get AMG DYNAMIC PLUS with RACE and DRIFT modes, an electronic rear-axle locking differential, dynamic engine mounts, and a Drivers Package that raises top speed to 170mph. A separate Driving Assistance Package Plus, at £1,695, adds Active Steering Assist, Active Lane Change Assist and Evasive Steering Assist among other systems, available as a cost option across every AMG grade including Edition 53.
Positioned at the Sharp End of the Segment
With OTR pricing stretching from roughly £79,000 to £92,000, the GLC 53 lineup sits well above mainstream GLC grades and competes against performance-oriented midsize SUVs from rivals like BMW and Audi.
