2027 Maserati Grecale Folgore Focuses on Efficiency

When Maserati launched the Grecale Folgore, the goal was clear: bring the brand's first fully electric SUV to market without losing the character that made the petrol-powered Grecale popular in the first place.

The latest update doesn't change that mission. Instead, the 2027 Maserati Grecale Folgore arrives with a collection of smaller improvements that, taken together, aim to make the electric SUV more efficient and easier to live with every day.

Revised Front End Brings Subtle Visual Changes

Most of the visual changes are concentrated at the front. The redesigned bumper introduces a more pronounced interpretation of Maserati's shark-nose styling, a design theme that has gradually spread across the brand's newer models. The grille has also been revised, particularly on the Folgore, where cooling requirements differ from those of the combustion-powered versions.

Look closer and the changes become more technical. Airflow management around the front wheels has been reworked, while the electric model gains an active grille system that can automatically adjust depending on thermal demands. Underneath, Maserati has also refined the floor design to reduce turbulence and improve efficiency.

Familiar Proportions Continue to Define the SUV

The overall shape remains familiar. That's no surprise, given that the Grecale's proportions have always been one of its strengths. With its long wheelbase, relatively low roofline, and wide stance, it still looks more athletic than many SUVs in this part of the market.

New Aero wheel designs developed specifically for the Folgore also join the range, contributing to both the visual identity and aerodynamic performance of the electric variant.

Cabin Updates Focus on Everyday Interaction

Inside, the updates focus on the details owners interact with every day. A newly designed steering wheel adopts an octagonal-inspired shape and takes cues from Maserati's motorsport programs. Nearby, the digital clock has been completely reworked, moving from a circular design to a distinctive octagonal layout with a metal surround and updated graphics.

The cabin itself remains one of the Grecale's strongest attributes. Maserati continues to emphasize spaciousness, with generous room in both rows and a practical cargo area designed for daily use rather than occasional convenience.

New Technology Works Behind the Scenes

Beyond the design revisions, Maserati has introduced several technology upgrades. A redesigned PRND selector now incorporates haptic feedback and metal controls, while a new driver monitoring system can detect signs of distraction or fatigue through a dashboard-mounted camera.

The Grecale also continues with its dual-screen layout, configurable displays, and the latest version of Maserati's infotainment technology.

Efficiency Improvements Take Centre Stage

The bigger story, though, sits beneath the bodywork.

The Grecale Folgore continues with its 105-kWh battery pack and dual-motor all-wheel-drive layout, but Maserati has introduced a series of measures intended to reduce energy consumption. One of the most notable is AWD Disconnect technology. When additional traction isn't required, the system can disengage the front axle and allow the vehicle to operate primarily through the rear wheels.

Engineers have also revised thermal management, energy recovery strategies, and tyre specifications. None of those changes grab headlines individually, but together they reflect where Maserati has focused its attention this time around.

Positioned as Maserati's Electric Luxury SUV

Rather than chasing bigger power figures or dramatic styling changes, the 2027 Maserati Grecale Folgore appears to be about refinement. For an electric SUV already established in the lineup, that probably makes more sense than starting over.
