2026 Maserati Grecale Folgore

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • The new AWD disconnect system increases the range to 580 kilometers.

  • Usability is improved by dynamic range mapping and updated EV routing.

  • Enhanced color scheme and Fuoriserie personalization possibilities.

An Increased Attention to Electric Performance

This week's Modena unveiling of the 2026 Grecale Folgore marks the beginning of a more sophisticated phase in Maserati's electrification strategy. The updated model refines the brand’s first all-electric SUV with fresh engineering, new personalization choices, and a greater emphasis on efficiency without compromising its performance DNA.

The Grecale Folgore continues to define what Maserati calls the “balance between performance and pleasure.” For 2026, the focus is on intelligent traction management, improved autonomy, and greater customization — elements that collectively elevate the model’s standing in the premium EV SUV segment.

Engineering: Smarter, More Efficient Power

At the heart of the 2026 Grecale’s updates lies a new all-wheel-drive disconnection system, a first for Maserati. When conditions allow, the system disengages the front axle completely, transferring power solely to the rear wheels. This mechanical decoupling — achieved through a 500-millisecond transition — helps reduce energy loss and extend range, bringing the total to up to 580 km on a full charge.

Unlike systems that only deactivate power delivery at the motor or differential level, Maserati’s approach physically isolates the front axle shafts from the hubs, creating what the brand describes as “true mechanical separation.” It’s a clever, hardware-first solution aimed at maximizing efficiency while maintaining the dynamic confidence expected of a Trident-badged SUV.

Complementing the system is a suite of predictive algorithms that process thousands of parameters — including road gradient, torque demand, and even brake temperature — to determine optimal power distribution in real time. The technology works autonomously, requiring no driver input.

Everyday Intelligence and EV Practicality

The Grecale Folgore’s EV Routing system has also been refined, automatically adjusting charging plans based on terrain, driving style, and remaining battery levels. When an ultra-fast charging point is entered as a navigation destination, the SUV’s automatic battery pre-conditioning system brings the pack to optimal temperature, reducing charging times.

A new Dynamic Range Mapping feature visually projects the vehicle’s potential driving radius on the navigation screen, giving drivers a precise, real-time sense of their remaining range — an increasingly vital tool for long-distance EV travel.

Remote climate control via the Maserati Connect app remains standard, allowing drivers to precondition the cabin before entering — a small but appreciated touch that reflects Maserati’s balance between technology and comfort.

Design and Personalization

Visually, the Grecale Folgore MY26 maintains its athletic proportions and sculpted profile but gains broader personalization options through the Fuoriserie customization program. Maserati now offers 32 exterior colors, including six new shades exclusive to this model year, along with eight interior combinations and new wheel designs.

Customers can now specify up to 11 body colors, with materials and finishes extending across matte, solid, and multi-layer applications. Inside, three new interior configurations — from light Pelle Ghiaccio to Nero/Rosso and Nero/Giallo sport leathers — reinforce Maserati’s focus on craftsmanship and individual expression.

It’s a level of variety that aligns the Grecale Folgore more closely with its luxury contemporaries, including the Porsche Macan Electric and Jaguar I-Pace, while preserving its uniquely Italian sense of formality and warmth.
