2027 Maserati GranCabrio 490 V

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • The GranCabrio 490 CV uses the 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 Nettuno making 490hp and 600Nm, with 0-100km/h in 4.0 seconds and a 300km/h top speed.

  • It's the only GranCabrio trim offered with the new Country drive mode, raising ride height by 20mm for uneven roads at up to 120km/h.

  • Standard kit includes Crio wheels, full-grain leather with carbon-fibre panels, 18-way heated sports seats and a new racing-inspired steering wheel.

Maserati's open-top grand tourer gets a round of updates for MY27, and the entry-level GranCabrio 490 CV sits at the comfort-focused end of a three-trim range that now also includes the 590hp Trofeo and the electric Folgore. Maserati is positioning it toward cosmopolitan drivers who want long-distance comfort without giving up performance.

Exterior Design

The whole GranCabrio range gets a reworked front end for this update: redesigned air intakes with slits for boundary-layer aspiration, a CFD-developed air curtain around the wheel arches, and an optimised centre splitter for more front downforce. The rear picks up new clear-lens taillights in Maserati's boomerang-and-harpoon shape, done in Full LED. On the 490 CV specifically, that translates to a new front bumper with a gloss black lower fascia, body-colour side skirts, satin chrome-plated trim along the window line, black-anodised brake calipers and silver exhaust tips.

Proportions and Stance

At 4,969mm long with a 2,929mm wheelbase, the 490 CV is 7mm shorter than the Trofeo, whose specific rear bumper accounts for the difference — both otherwise share identical width, height and track dimensions. Standard wheels are the lightweight 20/21-inch Crio design in Diamond Cut Gloss Black, in a staggered setup: 265/35 R20 up front, 295/30 R21 at the rear.

Interior Space and Technology

Inside, the 490 CV comes with full-grain leather trimmed in Campidoglio stitching, 3D Touch Carbon Fibre panels and stainless-steel sills, wrapped around 18-way heated sports seats with three memory settings. Nero leather is standard, with Tan available as an option. The new racing-inspired steering wheel — flat top and bottom, dark satin aluminium spokes — comes in perforated leather here as standard, while the Sport version with Alcantara accents is optional. A redesigned Maserati Digital Clock adds a metal, octagonal bezel with pop-up drive-mode notifications, alongside a new three-dimensional PRND selector and a digital interface spanning a 12.3-inch central display, 8.8-inch Comfort display, 12.2-inch instrument cluster and a head-up display. A new fatigue and distraction monitoring system, tied to a dashboard-integrated camera, debuts across the range.

Powertrain and Performance

Power comes from the 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 Nettuno, running Maserati's Formula 1-derived pre-chamber combustion technology with cylinder deactivation, tuned to 490hp and 600Nm on this trim. Maserati quotes a 4.0-second 0-100km/h time and a 300km/h top speed, run through an 8-speed automatic and standard all-wheel drive. Unique to the 490 CV is Country drive mode, which raises ride height by 20mm for rough or uneven surfaces at speeds up to 120km/h — a setting not offered on the Trofeo or Folgore.

Practical Usability

Boot space runs to 172 litres with the soft top up, dropping to 131 litres with it stowed. The canvas roof opens in 14 seconds and closes in 16, operable at speeds up to 50km/h via a touch button on the Comfort display or gesture control.

Market Positioning

Maserati frames the 490 CV as the volume entry point into the GranCabrio range, built for buyers prioritising elegance and comfort over the Trofeo's sportier carbon-fibre detailing or the Folgore's electric performance.
