2027 Maserati GranCabrio Folgore Gets More Range and New Tech
When Maserati launched the GranCabrio Folgore, it entered a space with very few direct rivals. An electric luxury convertible is uncommon enough. One with four genuine seats is even rarer.
For 2027, Maserati hasn't changed the formula. Instead, the company has spent time refining it.
Most of the work has happened beneath the surface, although a closer look reveals several visual updates as well. The biggest headline is a claimed driving range of up to 508 km, a notable increase over the previous version.
Familiar Shape, Sharper Details
The overall silhouette remains unmistakably GranCabrio. The long bonnet, low roofline and wide rear haunches still give the car the proportions of a traditional grand tourer, even though there's an electric powertrain underneath.
The differences are concentrated around the front bumper. Maserati has redesigned the air intakes and revised the airflow management around the front wheels. The nose itself now carries a more pronounced sharknose appearance, a styling cue that has become increasingly visible across the brand's recent models.
At the rear, new clear-lens LED taillights update the look without changing the character of the car. The revised diffuser serves a functional purpose too, forming part of the aerodynamic package developed to improve efficiency.
One of the more noticeable changes in the press photos is the introduction of the new gloss-black Trident wheels. Beyond appearance, they widen the track by 10 mm, which Maserati says improves stability and cornering precision.
Interior Updates Focus On The Driver
The cabin hasn't been reinvented, but several of the details drivers interact with every day have been updated.
A new steering wheel introduces flat upper and lower sections inspired by Maserati's racing programs. The digital clock has also been redesigned. It now features an octagonal shape and a metal outer ring, giving it a more technical appearance while also displaying drive-mode changes.
The digital layout remains familiar, with a 12.3-inch central touchscreen, an 8.8-inch comfort display and a 12.2-inch digital instrument cluster. A new fatigue monitoring system joins the technology package, using a dedicated camera to monitor driver alertness.
Efficiency Was Clearly The Priority
The Folgore still uses Maserati's three-motor electric drivetrain, producing 760 CV through an 800-volt architecture. Two motors sit at the rear, allowing torque vectoring to manage power delivery independently across the axle.
The bigger story, though, is efficiency.
A new AWD Disconnect system can physically disengage the front axle when extra traction isn't required. According to Maserati, the transition happens automatically and helps reduce energy consumption during normal driving.
That system works alongside revised aerodynamics, updated thermal management software, low rolling resistance tyres and improvements to energy recovery. Together, those changes raise the GranCabrio Folgore's claimed range to 508 km.
For a car designed as much for long-distance touring as outright performance, that may prove to be the most meaningful update of all.
