The 2027 BMW iX5 60 xDrive produces 425 kW (578 hp) and 805 Nm from two electric motors, delivering all-wheel drive and 0–100 km/h acceleration in 4.6 seconds.
A 141 kWh usable battery provides a provisional WLTP range of 645–845 km, while 800V technology enables DC charging at up to 460 kW and a 10–80 percent recharge in 23 minutes.
The optional M Sport package adds revised aerodynamic styling, 21-inch wheels, Dark Blue brake calipers, adaptive M suspension and Black/Atlas Grey Veganza and Alcantara sports seats.
2027 BMW iX5 60 xDrive Brings Electric Power to the X5
BMW has introduced the first fully electric X5 as part of the SUV's fifth generation. The 2027 BMW iX5 60 xDrive combines two electric motors, an 800V electrical architecture and a redesigned body influenced by the Neue Klasse design language.
For customers seeking a sportier appearance, the optional M Sport package adds distinctive exterior components, revised suspension and dedicated interior finishes.
The electric and plug-in hybrid X5 variants are scheduled to enter the market in early 2027, following the initial combustion-engine models in late November 2026.
Vertical Kidney Grille and M Sport Exterior
The new iX5 introduces an upright front with vertically arranged BMW kidney Iconic Glow illumination and double-X lighting signatures.
Unlike the combustion-engine X5 models, the electric version uses a continuous lower front apron.
The M Sport package adds horizontal contour lighting, more pronounced bumper air intakes and body-coloured side skirts. High-gloss Shadowline roof rails and M-specific door sill plates complete the appearance.
At the rear, slim lighting elements extend across much of the vehicle's width, while the body-coloured bumper contrasts with darker lower trim.
Larger Body and 21 Inch M Sport Wheels
The BMW iX5 60 xDrive measures 4,994 mm long, 2,000 mm wide and 1,748 mm tall, with a 3,035 mm wheelbase.
Its side profile includes angular wheel arches and recessed BMW Winglet door handles integrated into the pillars.
The M Sport package brings 21-inch wheels, Dark Blue brake calipers and adaptive M suspension with a lower ride height, continuously adjustable dampers and firmer calibration.
Panoramic iDrive and M Sport Cabin Details
Inside, BMW introduces Panoramic iDrive with Operating System X, a floating Central Display and Panoramic Vision projected across the windscreen.
An optional passenger display provides additional entertainment functionality.
M Sport models feature Black/Atlas Grey sports seats combining Veganza and Alcantara, alongside an M-specific steering wheel.
The redesigned cabin also includes an ambient lighting strip extending into the doors, while optional materials include genuine slate and crystal glass.
Dual Electric Motors Deliver 578 Horsepower
The iX5 60 xDrive uses sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology with a 242 kW rear synchronous motor and a 183 kW front asynchronous motor.
Combined output reaches 425 kW (578 hp) and 805 Nm, enabling acceleration from 0–100 km/h in 4.6 seconds.
Top speed is electronically limited to 210 km/h.
141 kWh Battery and 460 kW Fast Charging
A 141 kWh usable battery delivers a provisional WLTP range of 645–845 km, depending on specification.
DC charging peaks at 460 kW, with a 10–80 percent recharge taking 23 minutes. BMW also quotes up to 350 km of additional range after ten minutes of suitable high-power charging.
AC charging reaches 22 kW, while bidirectional charging supports external equipment and compatible home-energy systems.
Electric SUV Practicality and Market Launch
The iX5 offers 655–1,850 litres of luggage capacity, plus a 53-litre front storage compartment. Maximum trailer capacity is 2,700 kg.
Production takes place at BMW Group Plant Spartanburg in the United States, with electric versions scheduled to reach the market in early 2027.
