Revealed at the 2026 Brussels Motor Show, the 2027 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Luna Rossa is positioned as the most extreme interpretation of the Giulia to date. Conceived as the first tangible product of Alfa Romeo’s partnership with Luna Rossa, the Italian America’s Cup sailing team, the project goes beyond branding. It sits within Alfa Romeo’s Bottega Fuoriserie universe, where low-volume craftsmanship, advanced materials, and performance-led thinking converge.
Built from standard Giulia Quadrifoglio cars produced in Cassino, each example undergoes an extensive transformation process involving specialist Italian partners, underscoring its status as a collector-grade series rather than a conventional special edition.
Aerodynamics define the design
Visually, the Giulia Quadrifoglio Luna Rossa announces its intent immediately. The stance is familiar, but the surfaces are more purposeful, with a carbon-fibre aerodynamic package developed to reduce drag while dramatically increasing downforce. Front bumper appendages, underbody profiles, dedicated side skirts, and a prominent rear wing work together as a single system rather than isolated add-ons.
At speed, the results are measurable. Alfa Romeo confirms a peak of approximately 140 kg of downforce at 300 km/h, around five times that of the standard Quadrifoglio, while maintaining high aerodynamic efficiency. The rear wing, inspired by the foil profiles of Luna Rossa’s AC75 yachts, reverses nautical logic to press the car into the asphalt rather than lifting it clear.
Powertrain and dynamic focus
Mechanically, the Giulia Quadrifoglio Luna Rossa retains the familiar 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6, producing 520 horsepower and paired with a mechanical limited-slip differential. No power increase is claimed. Instead, Alfa Romeo’s emphasis remains on balance, airflow management, and stability at high speed. The aerodynamic load distribution mirrors the standard car’s layout, preserving its handling character while expanding its envelope.
This approach reinforces the car’s identity as a driver-focused machine, where added performance comes from efficiency and grip rather than raw output.
Materials and interior execution
The exterior finish references Luna Rossa’s AC75 race yacht, using a hand-applied color-shifting paint that mimics metallic steel tones. A contrasting black treatment across the hood, roof, and rear deck sharpens the Giulia’s sculpted lines. For the first time, Alfa Romeo badges adopt a red background, a subtle but symbolically loaded detail.
Inside, the narrative continues. Sparco seats are trimmed with textures inspired by sailing safety equipment, while sections of the dashboard incorporate material sourced directly from Luna Rossa sails. Carbon fibre dominates the cabin structure, reinforcing the car’s technical character without excess ornamentation.
Positioning at the very top
With production capped at ten units, all already allocated, the 2027 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Luna Rossa exists outside conventional market comparison. It does not chase volume rivals such as the BMW M3 or Mercedes-AMG C 63. Instead, it serves as a statement of intent, illustrating how Alfa Romeo intends to merge motorsport, design, and bespoke craftsmanship at the highest level.
