Updated Exterior Design Strengthens X Trail Presence
The 2026 Nissan X Trail Tekna emerges as the most refined expression of Nissan’s long running family SUV. For more than 25 years the X Trail has served as a practical all terrain companion, and the latest update sharpens that formula without altering its core identity.
At first glance the visual changes appear measured. The front fascia now carries a wider and cleaner interpretation of Nissan’s V Motion grille, lending the SUV a more planted and contemporary stance. The grille integrates with reshaped lower bumper sections and revised side vents, giving the nose greater definition.
Along the sides, the familiar squared profile remains intact. The proportions are unchanged: a tall glasshouse, strong shoulder line and generous wheel arches that signal everyday usability rather than overt sportiness.
The Tekna grade distinguishes itself with 20 inch diamond cut alloy wheels, which add a subtle premium tone without disrupting the X Trail’s rugged character. Glossy black detailing around the lower bumpers, wheel arches and mirrors reinforces the SUV’s layered visual structure.
At the rear, new full LED taillights sharpen the lighting signature, while new colour options such as Sukomo Blue and Coastal Dune expand the palette available to buyers.
Cabin Materials and Comfort in Tekna Specification
Inside, the 2026 Nissan X Trail Tekna focuses on comfort and craftsmanship. The cabin retains its durable layout but introduces warmer materials and more detailed finishes.
Premium quilted leather upholstery in chestnut brown forms the centrepiece of the interior. The seats are complemented by a brown wood effect centre console trim, giving the cabin a slightly more lounge like feel than earlier versions.
Across the range, the X Trail offers practical features designed for everyday use. Heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel and three zone climate control all contribute to long distance comfort.
Tekna models also include a BOSE 10 speaker premium audio system and heated windscreen as standard, adding another layer of refinement to what is already one of the more spacious cabins in the segment.
A sliding 40 20 40 second row seat arrangement allows the interior to adapt easily between passenger and cargo duties, reinforcing the X Trail’s reputation as a flexible family vehicle.
Electrified e POWER Hybrid Performance
Power in the 2026 Nissan X Trail Tekna comes from Nissan’s distinctive e POWER hybrid system.
Unlike conventional hybrids, e POWER uses a petrol engine primarily as a generator while the wheels are driven by an electric motor. The effect is an EV like driving experience without requiring external charging.
In two wheel drive form the system delivers 204 hp, while models equipped with the e 4ORCE all wheel drive system produce 213 hp. Maximum torque reaches 330 Nm, with the e 4ORCE system adding an additional 195 Nm for enhanced traction control.
Acceleration to 62 mph takes approximately 8.0 seconds in two wheel drive form and around 7.0 seconds with all wheel drive. Combined efficiency is rated at 49.6 mpg WLTP, with CO2 emissions listed at 128 g km pending final homologation.
The result is a driving character defined more by smoothness than outright pace.
Advanced Connectivity and Driver Assistance
Technology also receives a noticeable update. The latest NissanConnect infotainment system introduces Google built in integration, bringing Google Assistant voice control, app downloads through the Play Store and over the air software updates.
Drivers can interact with the system using natural language commands to control climate settings, navigation or communication functions.
By providing multiple camera angles around the vehicle, a recently upgraded 3D Around View Monitor enhances visibility at low speeds. T Junction View enhances visibility when emerging from hidden intersections, and Invisible Hood View aids drivers in seeing the position of the front wheels when negotiating obstacles.
Improved ProPILOT Additionally, assist functionality improves braking and lane keeping for more comfortable driving on motorways.
Positioning in the Electrified Family SUV Market
The 2026 Nissan X Trail Tekna sits near the top of the X Trail lineup, which includes Acenta Premium, N Connecta, N Trek and Tekna grades.
With pricing across the range starting from £38,220, the model competes in a segment increasingly populated by electrified family SUVs.
Its appeal lies in balance. Practical space, hybrid efficiency and real all weather capability. In Tekna specification, the X Trail adds a layer of premium comfort to that equation.
For many buyers, that combination remains exactly what a modern family SUV should deliver.
