A familiar name with a noticeably different personality
The 2026 Nissan Kicks X Grade is more than just a facelift. Nissan has taken its compact SUV in a different direction, giving it a stronger visual identity while updating nearly every area that owners interact with every day. From the redesigned bodywork to the latest version of e-POWER, the changes feel aimed at making the Kicks more refined without losing the practicality that has made it one of Nissan's key models.
It's still recognisably a Kicks, but it doesn't look or feel like the one it replaces.
The X Grade adds its own character
The front end immediately stands out. Nissan says its shape was inspired by an American football helmet, and whether buyers see that or not, the result is a broader, more upright face that gives the SUV extra presence on the road.
For the X Grade, there are details that won't appear on every version. The front bumper, side sills and rear bumper all feature a textured polygon pattern inspired by sneaker soles. It's an unusual idea, but it gives the model a little more personality without looking overdone.
Around the back, slim full-width tail lamps stretch across the tailgate, while a black panel ties the rear design together. Nissan has also expanded the paint selection, including a new shade called Resonance Blue that's intended to highlight the electrified character of the Kicks.
More space where drivers actually notice it
The cabin feels like one of the biggest steps forward. Rather than filling the dashboard with dramatic styling, Nissan has gone for a cleaner layout with softer materials across the instrument panel, centre console and door trims.
Passenger space has also improved. Nissan says the new Kicks offers class-leading knee room, headroom and rear seat width, while Zero Gravity seats are fitted not only in the front but also for the outer rear passengers. That should make longer journeys a little less tiring.
Depending on the specification, dual 12.3-inch displays combine the digital instrument cluster with the infotainment system, which now supports NissanConnect services with built-in Google integration.
e-POWER gets its biggest update yet
The biggest mechanical change is the introduction of Nissan's third-generation e-POWER system. A newly developed 5-in-1 powertrain combines the motor, generator, inverter, reducer and increaser into a single, more compact unit, working alongside a dedicated 1.4-litre engine.
Nissan says the result is better fuel efficiency and a quieter driving experience, two areas that owners are likely to notice every time they get behind the wheel. Buyers choosing four-wheel-drive versions can also specify e-4ORCE, which joins the Kicks range for the first time.
Built with everyday driving in mind
The 2026 Nissan Kicks X Grade isn't trying to reinvent the compact SUV. Instead, it refines the formula with smarter technology, a more confident design and a cabin that places comfort ahead of flashy styling. Standard ProPILOT, new camera views for the Around View Monitor and additional blind-spot safety systems round out a package that feels more complete than before.
For buyers wanting an electrified compact SUV that's comfortable, quiet and easy to live with, the latest Kicks makes a convincing case.
