2026 Leap Motor B10 EV Australia Version
By Lorenzo Bianchi June 9, 2026
Leapmotor introduces a new Hybrid EV version of the B10 with up to 900 km combined driving range.
An 18.8 kWh battery delivers up to 84 km of electric driving before the range extender activates.
Australian buyers can choose between Style and Design grades with extensive technology and safety features.
A Familiar Shape with a New Powertrain
The 2026 Leapmotor B10 EV Australia Version gains a second powertrain option aimed at drivers who want electric vehicle characteristics without relying entirely on charging infrastructure. While the fully electric B10 opened the range, the new Hybrid EV expands its appeal with significantly greater touring capability.
Visually, very little changes. The Hybrid EV carries over the same exterior design seen on the battery electric model. Rounded body surfaces, clean lines and balanced proportions give it a contemporary crossover appearance without resorting to exaggerated styling elements. The profile remains compact enough for city use while maintaining the upright stance expected from a family SUV.
At launch, Australian customers can choose between Style and Design grades, with the higher specification model adding features such as a rear light bar, power tailgate and distinctive interior upgrades.
Practical Dimensions Meet Everyday Usability
One of the B10's strengths is its packaging. Measuring 4,515 mm long and riding on a 2,735 mm wheelbase, it offers interior space that exceeds what its exterior footprint might suggest.
The cabin has been designed around simplicity. A floating 14.6 inch touchscreen dominates the dashboard, supported by a digital instrument display and Leapmotor's LEAP OS 4.0 Plus operating system. The layout feels uncluttered, with a focus on ease of use rather than visual complexity.
Storage solutions are integrated throughout the interior, while flexible seating arrangements help the vehicle adapt to family duties, commuting and longer road trips. Higher grade Design models add TechnoLeather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, ambient lighting and a 12 speaker surround sound system.
Electric Driving with Extended Range Capability
The biggest story sits beneath the bodywork.
Unlike a conventional hybrid, the Leapmotor B10 Hybrid EV uses an electric first system where the electric motor always drives the wheels. A 1.5 litre petrol engine operates as a generator, producing electricity when required and replenishing the battery.
System output stands at 160 kW and 240 Nm, allowing a claimed 0–100 km/h time of 7.5 seconds.
The 18.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery provides up to 84 km of electric driving range under WLTP testing. When combined with the range extender and 50 litre fuel tank, total driving range increases to as much as 900 km.
Drivers can select from EV+, EV, Fuel and Power+ modes depending on conditions and priorities.
Positioned for a Growing Hybrid Market
The Australian market has become increasingly receptive to electrified vehicles, though long distance travel remains a consideration for many buyers. The B10 Hybrid EV appears designed to address that concern directly.
With pricing starting at $37,888 for the Style and $40,888 for the Design, Leapmotor is targeting customers looking for a technology rich SUV that can operate like an EV during daily use while retaining the flexibility of petrol powered range extension for longer journeys.
The result is a crossover that bridges the gap between traditional hybrids and full battery electric vehicles, offering a different route into electrified motoring.
