2026 Genesis GV60 Magma Australian Version

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • The GV60 Magma becomes Genesis' first production Magma performance model.

  • Boost Mode lifts output to 478 kW and cuts the 0–100 km/h sprint to 3.4 seconds.

  • Suspension, aerodynamics and interior details have all been reworked for sharper driving.

2026 Genesis GV60 Magma Arrives as Genesis' Fastest EV Yet

Genesis has taken its first real step into the high-performance EV segment with the 2026 Genesis GV60 Magma. Sitting at the top of the GV60 lineup, the new model is more than just a styling exercise. It brings meaningful upgrades beneath the bodywork, combining stronger performance with the refinement expected from the luxury brand. Australian pricing starts from $130,000 MLP, with a single all-wheel-drive specification available.

A More Purposeful Exterior

Even parked, the GV60 Magma looks noticeably more focused than the standard model. The body sits lower and wider, while redesigned front and rear bumpers give it a stronger stance. Canard wings, deeper air intakes, gloss-black trim and reshaped side skirts aren't there simply for appearance—they also contribute to aerodynamic performance.

The forged 21-inch wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tyres, together with the winglet-style rear spoiler and revised diffuser, complete a package that looks ready for more than city streets. Signature Magma Orange headlines a paint palette that also includes several gloss and matte finishes.

Familiar Luxury With a Performance Twist

Inside, Genesis hasn't abandoned the premium feel that defines the GV60. Instead, it has added details that remind drivers they're sitting in the flagship Magma model. Suede-like Chamude upholstery covers much of the cabin, while orange stitching, unique quilting and Magma-specific trim pieces give the interior its own personality.

Technology remains front and centre. A 27-inch OLED display stretches across the dashboard, handling both the instrument cluster and infotainment system. Drivers also gain access to Magma Mode, Virtual Gear Shift, Drift Mode and High-Performance Battery Control, all designed to make the electric drivetrain feel more engaging behind the wheel.

Serious Numbers Back Up the Name

Performance is where the biggest changes appear. Dual electric motors deliver 448 kW and 740 Nm in normal operation, while Boost Mode temporarily increases output to 478 kW and 790 Nm. Launch Control helps the GV60 Magma reach 100 km/h in a claimed 3.4 seconds, before continuing to a top speed of 264 km/h.

Genesis didn't stop at adding power. Engineers recalibrated the suspension, revised the chassis geometry, upgraded the electronic limited-slip differential and fitted larger brakes to improve confidence during spirited driving. New drive modes and enhanced regenerative braking software round out the package.

A New Direction for Genesis Performance

The 2026 Genesis GV60 Magma feels like more than a one-off flagship. It introduces the Magma badge as a genuine performance sub-brand and hints at what's coming next from Genesis. Rather than chasing headline numbers alone, the company has focused on creating an electric SUV that balances pace, driver involvement and everyday comfort. If future Magma models follow the same formula, this is a confident way to begin the lineup.
