2026 Ford Ranger Super Duty Single Cab

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • Single Cab leads the Super Duty platform with the simplest, strongest configuration for heavy-duty tasks.

  • Powered by Ford’s 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel tuned to EU6.2 with enhanced cooling and high-mounted breathers.

  • Equipped with locking differentials, upgraded low-range gearset, 850 mm wading depth and advanced towing/load management tech.

Design and Proportions of the Vehicle

The Single Cab variant is the purest expression of Ford’s Super Duty strategy. Without the additional cabin length of the Super or Double Cab, the 2026 Ranger Super Duty Single Cab carries a more compact, upright look—its proportions built entirely around load capacity and accessory-fit flexibility. The reinforced ladder frame, heavy-duty rear axle and upgraded front and rear driveshafts give the Single Cab a visibly sturdier posture than a regular Ranger

Eight-stud hubs with larger bolts signal the uprated load capacity immediately. The short cabin and extended rear chassis rails leave abundant space for trays, tool modules or specialty upfits. High-mounted breathers for the transmission, fuel and transfer case are tucked cleanly into the upper body—one of several visual clues pointing to the truck’s intended role in deep water, thick mud and remote tracks.

Performance and Powertrain Overview

Every variant of the Super Duty range, including the Single Cab, is powered by Ford’s 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel, calibrated to EU6.2 emissions and supported by a strengthened cooling system designed for prolonged high-load operation in harsh terrain

Operators can manually trigger the diesel particulate filter regeneration cycle, avoiding inconvenient interruptions in remote areas.

Off-road performance is a major step above a standard Ranger. The Single Cab shares the upgraded two-speed transfer case—which uses larger components taken from the F-Series Super Duty—and a stronger low-range gearset designed for extreme inclines. Seven selectable drive modes include Tow/Haul, Mud/Ruts, Sand and Rock Crawl, adjusting throttle mapping and stability systems to suit the terrain.

Front and rear locking differentials come standard. The front unit, adapted from the Bronco Raptor and reinforced for higher loads, allows the truck to maintain traction where open-differential utes typically stop.

Water-wading capability increases to 850 mm, validated in controlled testing and 27 consecutive crossings of Victoria’s Crooked River—an unusually intense benchmark even for heavy-duty pickups

Key Features and Interior Impression

As the most vocationally focused model, the Single Cab prioritizes operational capability over cabin embellishment. The release does not detail interior materials or trims [Unverified]. What is confirmed is its technology suite: Super Duty’s off-road shortcut button provides immediate access to driveline status, steering angle, pitch and roll via the SYNC 5 interface.

Onboard Scales estimate payload weight through suspension sensors, while Smart Hitch measures trailer tongue load—all intended to keep the Single Cab working safely at or near maximum GVM

Trail Control—the low-speed off-road cruise-control system—and Trail Turn Assist further expand its capability in tight, technical terrain.

Cab-chassis buyers also have access to a rear driver-assistance bar that integrates front/rear parking aids, a 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitoring with trailer coverage, reverse brake assist and cross-traffic alert. This is the first time these systems have been available on a Ranger cab-chassis variant.

Market Positioning and Segment Context

The Single Cab is the anchor of the Super Duty range—the variant most aligned with the original customer feedback Ford gathered from forestry crews, land managers, fleet teams and emergency services operators. These groups needed a medium-size truck with the towing, payload and durability of a larger vehicle, but without the size penalties that made big trucks unsuitable for narrow bush tracks or remote access routes.

Ford’s development program reflected that brief: autonomous 24/7 durability runs, mud-pack overload cycles, corrosion baths and real-world shadowing of fire crews and cattle-station teams working with loads approaching 4,500 kg GVM

As a result, the Single Cab arrives as a factory-built workhorse—an alternative to aftermarket heavy-duty conversions and likely the most purpose-focused Ranger specification ever offered.
