2026 BYD ATTO 2 DM-i Australian Version

The Australian ATTO 2 DM i combines a 1.5 litre petrol engine with BYD's front wheel drive DM i Super Hybrid system.
Combined output reaches 156kW and 300Nm, while the Premium accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 7.5 seconds.
Premium offers up to 895km WLTP combined range and an 18.03kWh Blade Battery, while Essential uses a smaller 7.85kWh battery.
The 2026 BYD ATTO 2 DM i Australian Version adds plug in hybrid power to BYD's compact SUV range, using the company's Dual Mode Intelligent Super Hybrid system. Two versions are detailed for Australia, Essential and Premium, with different battery capacities and equipment levels.
The headline figure belongs to the Premium. BYD quotes up to 895km of WLTP combined driving range, along with combined power and torque outputs of 156kW and 300Nm.
Compact Body With A 2,620mm Wheelbase
At 4,330mm long, 1,830mm wide and 1,675mm high, the ATTO 2 DM i stays firmly within compact SUV territory. Its 2,620mm wheelbase leaves relatively short body overhangs, while ground clearance is listed at 160mm.
The specification sheet shows a clean front treatment with slim lighting, dark lower bumper sections and black wheel arch cladding. Along the sides, the roofline remains fairly upright rather than adopting a steep coupe style taper.
Both grades use 17 inch wheels with 215/65 R17 Hankook tires. Premium also adds a panoramic sunroof with an electric sunshade and roof rails.
Premium Gets A Larger Touchscreen
The Essential cabin uses an 8.8 inch digital driver's display and 10.1 inch intelligent touchscreen. Premium retains the same instrument display but increases the central screen to 12.8 inches.
Wireless and wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, along with BYD's intelligent voice assistant. Essential has four speakers and fabric seats, while Premium moves to six speakers and synthetic leather upholstery.
Premium also adds electrically adjustable front seats with heating, while both versions have a 60:40 split folding rear bench. Boot capacity is 425 litres with the seats in place and 1,335 litres when folded.
DM i System Produces 156kW And 300Nm
Both models use a 1.5 litre engine within BYD's DM i Super Hybrid system, driving the front wheels. Combined output is 156kW and 300Nm.
Performance differs slightly. Essential reaches 100km/h in 9.1 seconds, while Premium cuts that figure to 7.5 seconds. Both have a 180km/h top speed.
The Essential carries a 7.85kWh BYD Blade Battery using LFP chemistry. Premium increases capacity to 18.03kWh and supports 6.1kW AC charging. Vehicle to Load functionality is included, allowing external electrical equipment to draw power from the vehicle.
Premium Targets Longer Distance Use
The specification sheet highlights up to 895km of WLTP combined range for Premium. BYD also quotes fuel consumption as low as 0.7L/100km with sufficient battery charge.
Safety equipment includes a 360 degree camera, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assistance and blind spot detection. Six airbags are listed across the range.
The result is a small SUV configured around short electric assisted journeys while retaining petrol power for longer trips, with Premium placing greater emphasis on battery capacity, equipment and overall range.
