2025 Audi Q6L Sportback e-tron AU516

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • Extended wheelbase adds space and larger 107 kWh battery.

  • Over 700 km CLTC range with 800V fast charging.

  • Digital OLED lighting and new E 1.2 electronic architecture.

Sportback design stretches a familiar Audi silhouette

The 2025 Audi Q6L Sportback e-tron AU516 doesn’t try to look radically different. It builds on what Audi already does, then stretches it—literally.

At the front, the closed-off fascia is typical for the brand’s electric models. It’s wide, almost flattened out, with gloss black surfaces tying the grille area into the lighting. The effect is more horizontal than older SUVs, which helps the car sit visually lower.

From the side, the Sportback profile becomes clearer. The longer wheelbase pulls the proportions out, and the roofline tapers gradually toward the rear. It’s not overly dramatic. The curve is soft, which keeps the SUV character intact rather than turning it into something too coupe-like.

Flush door handles sit nearly level with the body and only deploy when needed. It’s a small touch, but it keeps the side clean.

Longer wheelbase changes the overall stance

The Audi Q6L e-tron platform underpins everything here.

Wheelbase grows by 105 mm compared to the standard model. That’s noticeable, especially in profile. The car looks more settled, less compact.

Overall dimensions sit at 4,884 mm in length, 1,965 mm in width, and 1,687 mm in height. The stretched roofline and longer wheelbase work together, giving it a more balanced look.

It doesn’t feel oversized. Just more evenly proportioned.

Interior leans toward space and digital integration

Inside, the extra wheelbase shows up immediately in the rear.

Audi describes the rear legroom as business-class level. That’s not a number, but it gives a sense of intent. The cabin is meant to feel open, not just functional.

The interior also sits on a new electronic architecture, referred to as E 1.2. It relies on multiple high-performance computing units managing everything from infotainment to driver assistance.

A full sensor suite is part of the setup. Lidar, radar, cameras, and ultrasonic sensors all feed into the system, supporting features like adaptive driving assistance and advanced parking functions.

There’s also a strong push toward a more localized digital experience. [Inference] That likely means software and interface adjustments tailored to specific markets rather than hardware changes.

Electric setup focuses on range and charging speed

Underneath, the Q6L Sportback e-tron uses Audi’s Premium Platform Electric.

Battery capacity reaches 107 kWh gross. That allows a range of over 700 km under the CLTC cycle.

Charging runs on an 800-volt system, with peak DC speeds up to 270 kW. In ideal conditions, that translates to roughly 260 km of range added in about ten minutes. A 10 to 80 percent charge takes around 25 minutes.

Power output depends on configuration. Rear-wheel drive versions deliver 255 kW, while quattro models reach 345 kW.

Lighting becomes part of the car’s identity

Lighting does more than just illuminate here.

The rear uses second-generation digital OLED panels made up of hundreds of segments. They can change patterns and even display warning signals to nearby traffic when needed.

At the front, Matrix LED headlights offer selectable daytime running light signatures. Up to eight different patterns can be chosen through the system.

Even the four-ring Audi logo is illuminated, front and rear. It’s integrated into the overall lighting theme rather than standing apart.

Positioned as a long range premium electric SUV

The 2025 Audi Q6L Sportback e-tron AU516 sits in the premium mid-size EV segment.

It’s aimed at buyers who value rear space and long-distance usability. The extended wheelbase, larger battery, and fast charging all point in that direction.

Production is set to begin in China, with deliveries expected in 2025.

For now, it reads as a more refined take on the same formula. Not a shift, but a clear evolution.
