2025 Audi Q6 Sportback e-tron S-Line AU516

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • Up to 407 miles of range (WLTP) with the dual-motor large-battery variant

  • Smoother coupe-style design cuts drag to 0.26 Cd, enhancing efficiency

  • UK pricing starts at £63,740, undercutting rivals like the Mercedes EQE SUV

A Coupe-SUV That Actually Leans Coupe

At first glance, the 2025 Q6 Sportback e-tron delivers exactly what you expect from its name: a more sloped, athletic silhouette than its standard Q6 sibling. The roofline curves cleanly into the tail, and while it drops just 37mm overall, the visual impact is more pronounced. Audi claims the drag coefficient improves to 0.26, a marginal but measurable bump that helps with highway efficiency.

You lose a bit of boot space — around half a cubic foot less than the SUV version — but for most buyers drawn to the Sportback form, that won’t be a dealbreaker.

PPE Platform and Powertrain Options

This is the second Audi EV to ride on the PPE architecture co-developed with Porsche, following the Q6 SUV. The flexibility of the platform is already evident. Two battery sizes will be available depending on the trim:

  • Small pack (75.8 kWh usable): rear-wheel-drive Q6 Sportback “Sport”, good for up to 338 miles

  • Large pack (94.9 kWh usable): available with dual-motor “quattro” layout and up to 407 miles WLTP

The fastest charging model supports 270 kW DC, allowing a 10–80% charge in just over 20 minutes, provided you’re at the right charger. It also features 800V architecture, now quickly becoming a benchmark in this class.

Performance: Fast, or Faster

Audi’s range structure keeps things clear. At the entry level, the rear-drive Q6 Sportback does 0–62 mph in 7.0 seconds. A step up brings dual motors, shaving that to 5.9 seconds. And for those who want something a bit more urgent, the SQ6 delivers 517 hp (380 kW) and cuts the sprint to 4.3 seconds.

No word yet on whether a full RS version will follow, but the platform should support it.

Cabin Tech That Doesn’t Overwhelm

Inside, the layout is sharp but restrained. The curved screen across the dash is familiar now, but Audi has finally leaned into its Android Automotive ecosystem, which should make future updates more seamless. A passenger display is standard on higher trims, though it's blended in well enough to be unobtrusive when off.

Materials feel upscale, even if the design doesn’t scream luxury. Ambient lighting runs throughout, but it’s tasteful. As is the case with most premium EVs now, the augmented reality head-up display is more than a gimmick — it’s genuinely useful when navigating complex junctions.

With a UK starting price of £63,740 (on-the-road), the Q6 Sportback e-tron undercuts its German rival, the Mercedes EQE SUV, by several thousand pounds. Top trims approach £75,000, which is par for the course in this segment, especially with dual motors and the larger battery.

For now, Audi’s pricing structure and feature spread feel tightly controlled — clearly aiming to hit volume targets while protecting higher-margin models further up the line.
