Porsche 960 GT RS Concept A Modern Hyper GT With Old Blood In Its Veins

In an automotive world increasingly shaped by software, electrification, and digital systems, performance car design continues to develop in new directions. Within that space, Ugur Sahin has created the Porsche 960 GT RS as a concept rooted in engineering layout and real-world design logic.                                 

The car is based around packaging, mechanical structure, and aerodynamic thinking. Proportion plays a central role, with the body built to suit the layout rather than the other way around.As a result, the 960 GT RS comes across as a concept created with real hardware in mind.

Design Reference

The Porsche 918 served as the project’s main reference.Sahin used its layout and balance as a guide, focusing on weight distribution and driver position as the foundation of the design. The concept builds on those same priorities, carrying them into a modern form.The influence is most obvious in the stance and proportions.

Proportions and Layout

The overall shape follows Porsche’s familiar performance layout. The cabin sits forward, the nose stays short, and the rear remains compact.  From the side, a strong shoulder line gives the car a planted look. The greenhouse blends cleanly into the body, while the roofline flows naturally toward the rear. Surface design remains tidy across the body. Panel transitions are smooth and consistent, helping the car read as one piece rather than a collection of parts.

Mechanical Focus

Around the back, the design places emphasis on hardware. Twin exhaust outlets sit low beneath the light bar and diffuser.
Sahin has said engine behaviour remains important to him, with sound and response forming part of the driving experience. That philosophy shows up in how the rear of the car is treated.
The exhaust system is clearly part of the design, reinforcing the car’s mechanical identity.

Wheel Design

The wheels are one of the most distinctive elements of the concept.
Their design takes inspiration from turbofan motorsport wheels, reworked with modern geometry. The shape also hints at airflow management and brake cooling.
Instead of relying on size alone, the wheels make an impact through detail. Even at a standstill, they add visual movement to the car.
Porsche’s traditional emphasis on wheel design is evident here.

Hyper GT Layout

The 960 GT RS is presented as a Hyper GT rather than a track-only concept.
Its proportions suggest comfort alongside performance. The seating position, cabin space, and ride height all support usable road driving.
It follows the same approach taken by the 918, where everyday practicality and performance engineering were developed together.

The Designer

Sahin’s work shows close attention to proportion and surface discipline.
Every part of the 960 GT RS appears carefully considered, from its stance to the details.
Without context, it could easily be mistaken for a studio concept developed inside a manufacturing design department.
