McLaren 750S Le Mans Edition: A Tribute Too Rare for Even the Rich
  • McLaren marks 30 years since its 1995 Le Mans victory with a limited-run 750S Le Mans Edition, restricted to just 50 units globally.

  • Inspired by the iconic F1 GTR, the edition features a roof scoop, High Downforce Kit, and exclusive heritage styling details.

  • Powered by a 750PS twin-turbo V8, the car blends race-bred performance with historical tribute — but most are already spoken for.

Thirty years ago, McLaren entered the 24 Hours of Le Mans with the F1 GTR — a road car adapted for endurance racing — and won outright on its debut. It remains one of the most significant achievements in motorsport, not just for McLaren, but for the industry as a whole. To honor that moment, McLaren has created the 750S Le Mans Edition, a special version of its most driver-focused series-production supercar.

Only 50 examples will be made globally. Each one is a carefully curated nod to the 1995 victory — not just in visuals, but in engineering and intent.

A Familiar Shape, Sharpened with Purpose

Based on the recently launched 750S Coupe, the Le Mans Edition benefits from the same lightweight construction and formidable twin-turbo V8 powertrain. But it receives a distinct aerodynamic package inspired by the High Downforce Kit (HDK) of the 765LT — including a more prominent front splitter, extended rear wing, and a fully functional roof scoop that draws a direct line to the F1 GTR.

The result is a car that’s visually connected to its racing predecessor, yet very much at home in the present.

Two Paint Finishes, One Story

McLaren offers the Le Mans Edition in two finishes — Le Mans Grey, reminiscent of the winning No. 59 F1 GTR, and McLaren Orange, a classic motorsport hue long associated with the brand. Both are paired with bespoke five-spoke LM wheels, orange brake calipers, and a “97” roundel on the side — marking the final year of the F1 GTR's participation at Le Mans.

Each detail has been chosen for a reason. Nothing feels ornamental. The aesthetic choices are purposeful, guided by the spirit of the original race car without resorting to pastiche.

Subtle Reminders Inside

The interior continues the tribute with an understated sense of occasion. Lightweight Alcantara dominates the cabin, complemented by contrast stitching in orange or grey, depending on the exterior. The headrests are embroidered with the Le Mans circuit layout, while an etched dedication plaque on the sill subtly marks the edition’s purpose.

While the cabin is minimalist, the craftsmanship is evident — it feels as focused as the car it commemorates.

Performance Remains Front and Center

Underneath, the Le Mans Edition is pure 750S. That means a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 producing 750PS (740 hp) and 800Nm of torque, paired with McLaren’s Proactive Chassis Control III suspension system. Acceleration from 0–100 km/h takes just 2.8 seconds, and the car maintains a remarkable sense of balance, even under heavy load.

This is not just a commemorative edition — it is a fully realized performance machine. Every engineering decision is rooted in the same philosophy that helped McLaren win Le Mans: less weight, more precision.

A Moment of Reflection from McLaren

Speaking on the car’s release, McLaren CEO Michael Leiters commented:

“The 750S Le Mans Edition brings together our current class-leading supercar and one of the most iconic achievements in McLaren’s history.”

It’s a measured statement, and a fair one. The 750S Le Mans Edition isn’t trying to recreate the past. It acknowledges it, builds on it, and moves forward with a clear sense of purpose.

A Car for Collectors — and Storytellers

With only 50 units produced, availability is already extremely limited. Most will go to longstanding McLaren clients and collectors with ties to the brand. For them, the 750S Le Mans Edition is more than a supercar — it’s a physical connection to a racing triumph that continues to shape McLaren’s identity.

For everyone else, it’s a reminder of what the company can achieve when it sets out not just to build a car, but to tell a story — one built from carbon fiber, numbers, and memory.
