Toyota debuts “Wave Maker” — a bold new blue exclusive to the 2025 Tacoma TRD Pro.
-
i-FORCE MAX hybrid setup delivers 326 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque.
-
Serious off-road gear stays in place — FOX shocks, 33-inch Goodyears, and more.
Blue Like You Mean It
The 2025 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro WaveMaker doesn’t bring major styling changes — but it doesn’t need to. What it brings is boldness. The new Wave Maker blue is bright, icy, and immediately eye-catching.
Developed by Toyota’s CALTY Design team, the hue is inspired by — and this is straight from the source — “glacial depths and unexplored frontiers.” That may sound a bit poetic, but the color hits. It stands out from Toyota’s usual earthy tones, offering something sharper and more energetic.
It joins the long-running TRD Pro tradition of unique yearly colors — eleven and counting since Inferno debuted in 2015.
Hybrid Power, Old-School Grit
This Tacoma isn’t just pretty paint. Under the hood, it’s packing Toyota’s i-FORCE MAX hybrid setup, which combines a 2.4L turbo-four with a 48-hp electric motor.
The result? A total of 326 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque, sent through an 8-speed automatic. Not bad for a mid-size pickup still built to crawl, haul, and climb.
And while it’s not trying to be a Prius, it does get a respectable 23 mpg combined, which is solid considering the hardware underneath.
Built to Go Where It Looks Like It Belongs
The WaveMaker may sound beachy, but this Tacoma’s ready for rocks, ruts, and everything in between.
It comes standard with FOX QS3 adjustable shocks, 33-inch Goodyear Territory tires, Crawl Control, and a locking rear differential. It’s the full TRD Pro tool kit. The kind of spec that says, “yes, I’ll take the fire road over the paved detour.”
Interior Tweaks for Comfort and Control
Inside, it’s more purposeful than plush. New IsoDynamic seats up front are built to absorb vertical movement and keep your neck stable on rough terrain.
You get a 14-inch touchscreen, Toyota’s Safety Sense 3.0 system, and the expected array of off-road drive modes. It’s not luxury, but it’s well-sorted. Enough to let you focus on the trail, not the touchscreen.
Pricing and Arrival
The 2025 Tacoma TRD Pro starts around $63,745, and the Wave Maker option will be available when it hits dealerships in fall 2025.
Whether or not it becomes a collector shade like Lunar Rock or Quicksand, it’s clear Wave Maker is going to get some attention — and maybe a few second glances on the trail.
