2028 Mitsubishi Outlander Diamond Trail Edition

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • The 2028 Mitsubishi Outlander Diamond Trail Edition will make its world debut at the 2026 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, running November 3–6.

  • Off-road upgrades include revised bumpers, Nexen Roadian ATX all-terrain tires, improved approach and departure angles, and a new Rock mode for Super-All Wheel Control.

  • Trail Green Metallic paint, black exterior detailing and water-repellent interior upholstery distinguish the edition, with three differently equipped examples planned for SEMA.

Mitsubishi Outlander Diamond Trail Heads to SEMA 2026

Mitsubishi is preparing to introduce the 2028 Mitsubishi Outlander Diamond Trail Edition at the 2026 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, marking the company's return to the event after a fourteen-year absence.

The new variant builds on the familiar Outlander SUV with changes intended to improve performance away from paved roads.

Mitsubishi describes it as its most capable Outlander to date, with revised bodywork, all-terrain tires and additional traction-management functions.

Matte Black Grille and Revised Off-Road Bumpers

The Diamond Trail Edition receives a matte black front grille, black Dynamic Shield trim and darkened headlights.

Both bumpers have been redesigned to improve clearance when approaching or leaving obstacles.

The approach angle increases from 18.3 to 20.5 degrees, while the departure angle improves from 22.2 to 23.1 degrees.

Wider over-fenders surround the wheels, adding definition to the bodywork without changing the Outlander's basic SUV shape.

A new Trail Green Metallic paint finish is available with a contrasting white roof.

All Terrain Wheels and Adventure Accessories

The production specification includes dedicated 18 x 7.5-inch black alloy wheels fitted with Nexen Roadian ATX all-terrain tires.

Raised roof rails provide mounting points for additional cargo equipment.

Mitsubishi will display three Diamond Trail examples at SEMA. One uses genuine accessories and a Thule roof box.

Another receives a 1.5-inch suspension lift, BFGoodrich tires, additional lighting and a roof rack carrying two mountain bikes.

The third features a 2.5-inch lift, Method Race Wheels, a rooftop tent and traction boards. These additional modifications belong to the display vehicles rather than the standard edition.

Water Repellent Seats and Off-Road Displays

Inside, the Diamond Trail Edition introduces dark grey upholstery with khaki stitching.

The water-repellent seating material is designed to be easier to clean after outdoor use.

Textured matte black, dark chrome and satin surfaces distinguish the cabin, while Diamond Trail logos appear on the seatbacks, floor mats and door trim.

A new instrument-cluster display shows steering angle, individual wheel slip and traction-control intervention.

Rock Mode Expands Super All Wheel Control

The existing Super-All Wheel Control system gains a dedicated Rock drive mode.

This setting increases the speed of brake-based wheel-slip intervention to help maintain traction on uneven ground.

Selecting Rock mode also activates Hill Descent Control automatically.

The Multi-View Camera System can remain active at speeds up to 30 km/h, compared with 10 km/h on the standard Outlander.

North American Positioning and Availability

The Diamond Trail Edition forms part of Mitsubishi's Momentum 2030 strategy, which places greater emphasis on adventure-oriented vehicles.

Its SEMA debut will take place at Mitsubishi's West Hall stand, alongside five other vehicles.
