Mitsubishi Motors has unveiled the refreshed 2026 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV in Montreal, ahead of its public debut at the Montreal Auto Show.
The update is described as a significant mid-cycle refresh rather than a full redesign, and the focus is clear from the outset: more electric range, improved efficiency, and targeted refinements based on owner and media feedback.
As Canada’s best-selling plug-in hybrid vehicle, the Outlander PHEV carries expectations of continuity as much as progress. This update leans toward evolution, addressing daily usability rather than altering the vehicle’s core identity.
Battery Upgrade and Driving Range
The headline change is the introduction of a new 22.7 kWh battery pack, replacing the outgoing unit and delivering an 18 percent increase in EV-only range. The result is a quoted electric range of 72 km, while total combined driving range now stands at 690 km.
Efficiency figures also improve. Combined fuel consumption is rated at 3.2 Le/100 km, with gas-only efficiency listed at 8.6 L/100 km for both city and highway driving. The increased battery capacity also brings higher EV power output, contributing to faster acceleration and a more responsive driving experience, according to Mitsubishi.
Chassis and Exterior Revisions
Instead of a new appearance, the 2026 Outlander PHEV gets a minor cosmetic makeover. All trim levels now have new wheel designs that gradually change the vehicle's posture without altering its recognizable dimensions.
Beneath are more significant modifications. The goal of the suspension, tire, and power steering upgrades is to increase handling stability and ride comfort.

Interior Changes and Technology

All 2026 Outlander PHEV models will continue to feature Mitsubishi’s Super All-Wheel Control system and a full suite of advanced driver assistance systems as standard.
