2027 Volvo XC60 Black Edition

The new XC60 plug in hybrid delivers up to 200 km of preliminary WLTP electric range, more than 2.5 times the existing version.
Updates include a redesigned grille, bumper, bonnet, front wings, Thor's Hammer Matrix LED headlights and new wheels.
Volvo confirms the Black Edition is available to order in selected markets.
The 2027 Volvo XC60 Black Edition joins the refreshed XC60 range with a substantially longer electric driving range and a broader exterior redesign. Volvo confirms the Black Edition among the versions now available to order in selected markets, although this particular release does not detail its model-specific black trim, wheels or interior finishes.
What is confirmed is a much larger change beneath the body. The new long range plug in hybrid XC60 can travel up to 200 kilometres on electric power under preliminary WLTP testing.
Redesigned Front Sharpens the XC60
The updated XC60 gets a new front and rear treatment rather than relying on trim changes alone. Volvo has redesigned the grille, front bumper, bonnet and front wings, with new wheels completing the exterior revision.
Thor's Hammer Matrix LED headlights remain the defining lighting element, but their internal design has been simplified. At the rear, Volvo has revised the LED lamps, tailgate and bumper, using stronger horizontal lines to visually widen the SUV.
Cabin Gets New Dashboard and Google Gemini
Changes continue inside with a redesigned dashboard and door panels. Volvo specifies wood decor, Cardamom ventilated Nappa leather and upgraded interior illumination for the wider XC60 range.
An 11.2 inch central screen runs Volvo Car UX. Google Gemini is also integrated, allowing occupants to use natural spoken language for tasks such as planning journeys, finding stops and managing messages.
Plug In Hybrid Range Jumps to 200 Km
The mechanical update is significant. Volvo says electric range is more than two and a half times higher than before, thanks to a larger capacity battery integrated into the floor and a more powerful electric motor. The petrol engine remains available when needed.
Battery capacity, charging speed, electric motor output and combined system power are not disclosed in this release.
Safety Technology Also Moves Forward
An upgraded sensing package combines cameras, radars and other sensors. Automatic emergency braking and steering can intervene when a collision risk is detected, while another function can warn occupants of an approaching cyclist before a door is opened. Lane change assist and a 360 degree camera with 3D view also feature.
The XC60 Black Edition therefore arrives as part of a wider update rather than an isolated appearance package. Production of the refreshed range starts later in autumn 2026, with order books already open in selected markets.
