The new XC60 plug in hybrid offers up to 200 km of preliminary WLTP electric range, more than 2.5 times the existing version.
Volvo has redesigned the grille, bumper, bonnet, front wings, wheels, rear lamps and tailgate.
An 11.2 inch infotainment screen runs Volvo Car UX, with Google Gemini integrated as the next generation AI assistant.
The 2027 Volvo XC60 arrives with one of its most substantial updates yet, combining a redesigned exterior and cabin with a new long range plug in hybrid powertrain. The headline figure is up to 200 kilometres of electric driving on a single charge under preliminary WLTP testing.
That is more than two and a half times the electric range of the existing XC60 plug in hybrid. Volvo attributes the increase to a larger floor integrated battery and a more powerful electric motor, with the petrol engine available when longer journeys require it.
Thor's Hammer Lights Get a Cleaner Look
The XC60's familiar proportions remain visible, but much of the exterior detailing has changed. Volvo has revised the grille, front bumper, bonnet and front wings, while new wheel designs accompany the update.
The Thor's Hammer Matrix LED headlights receive a cleaner interpretation of Volvo's established lighting signature. At the other end, the tailgate, LED lamps and rear bumper have all been reworked. Stronger horizontal lines across the rear visually emphasize the SUV's width.
The press image on page one shows that the XC60 retains its recognisable long-roof SUV profile, with a relatively upright cabin and restrained surfacing rather than a dramatic change in basic proportions.
Cardamom Nappa Leather Updates the Cabin
Changes inside are more noticeable. A redesigned dashboard and door panels are joined by wood decor and available Cardamom ventilated Nappa leather. Higher-specification interior lighting adds another layer to the cabin at night.
An 11.2 inch central display provides access to Volvo Car UX. Google Gemini is integrated into the infotainment system, allowing natural-language interaction for functions including journey planning, finding stops and handling messages while travelling.
Larger Battery Pushes EV Range to 200 Km
What is confirmed is the 200 km preliminary WLTP electric range. That positions the new XC60 differently from conventional short-range plug in hybrids, with enough quoted battery range to cover many everyday journeys before the petrol engine is required. Mild hybrid versions will continue alongside it.
New Sensors Expand Driver Assistance
An upgraded sensing package combines radars, cameras and other sensors. Automatic emergency steering and braking can intervene when a potential collision is detected, while the system can also warn occupants about an approaching cyclist before a door is opened. Lane change assistance and a 360 degree camera with 3D view are included among the available driver support technologies.
Order books for the updated XC60, including the Black Edition, are already open in selected markets. Production begins later in autumn 2026, keeping Volvo's best-selling model alongside the electric EX60 as the company expands its electrified midsize SUV range.
