The EX60 marks Volvo's first entry into the mid-size electric SUV segment, offering up to 503 miles of range on the top P12 AWD variant and adding up to 211 miles in ten minutes on a 400kW charger.
Built on Volvo's new SPA3 architecture with HuginCore computing, the EX60 is the first Volvo to launch with Google's Gemini AI assistant and includes a 28-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system with headrest speakers.
Available in seven variants across three powertrains (P6 RWD, P10 AWD, P12 AWD), the EX60 is open for European orders now, with U.S. availability following in late spring and production starting this spring in Sweden.
Exterior Design
Volvo describes the EX60's exterior as an extension of its Scandinavian design language into an electric-only lineup, built around a low front end, a sloping roofline, and tapered body sides. Those choices aren't purely visual — they help the EX60 reach a 0.26 drag coefficient, a figure Volvo ties directly to the car's range numbers.
Proportions and Stance
The EX60 rides on a long wheelbase paired with a flat floor, a combination Volvo says opens up extra rear legroom compared with a conventional platform.
Interior Space and Technology
Inside, Volvo focuses on natural, high-end materials and smart storage built around the flat-floor packaging, along with a large luggage compartment. The EX60 gets a 28-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system, including headrest speakers in all four main seats for the first time in a Volvo, and becomes the first Volvo with Apple Music pre-installed alongside Dolby Atmos Spatial Audio. On the software side, the EX60 runs the latest version of Volvo's HuginCore system and becomes the first Volvo to launch with Google's Gemini AI assistant, letting occupants speak naturally rather than using fixed commands. Volvo also calls this its most responsive infotainment setup yet, citing faster screen response and quicker map loading.
Powertrain and Performance
Volvo offers the EX60 in three powertrain variants. The range-topping P12 AWD delivers up to 503 miles of range, which Volvo calls best-in-class for the segment, while the P10 AWD reaches up to 410 miles and the rear-wheel-drive P6 covers up to 385 miles. Charging is built around 400kW hardware, adding up to 211 miles in ten minutes on the P12 AWD variant specifically.
Practical Usability
Every EX60 comes with a 10-year battery warranty, and Volvo is bundling three years of free home charging for private customers in Sweden through a partnership with Vattenfall, requiring a bi-directional Volvo wallbox and a Vattenfall electricity contract. Volvo says that offer will expand to other markets over time, though it doesn't specify which ones or when.
Market Positioning
The EX60 gives Volvo its first vehicle in the largest global electric SUV segment, a move CEO Håkan Samuelsson framed as removing the remaining obstacles to going electric for Volvo customers. The car also introduces several new manufacturing technologies for Volvo, including mega casting and cell-to-body construction, which the company says help it match the EX30's status as its lowest-carbon fully electric model. European orders are open now, with U.S. availability following in late spring, production starting this spring at Volvo's factory in Sweden, and customer deliveries of the P6 and P10 beginning this summer ahead of the P12.
