2027 Volkswagen ID. Tiguan R-Line
By Lorenzo Bianchi October 9, 2026
The ID. Tiguan replaces the ID.4 and ID.5, with R-Line joining Trend, Life and Style in the four-trim lineup.
Three electric powertrains deliver 190 PS, 286 PS or 299 PS, with 58 kWh and 77 kWh battery options and up to 600 km WLTP range.
The cabin introduces a 15-inch touchscreen, 10-inch Digital Cockpit, optional 12-inch passenger display and physical controls.
The 2027 Volkswagen ID. Tiguan R-Line has been announced as part of Volkswagen's new electric SUV family, replacing the ID.4 and ID.5 with a more conventional SUV design and a substantially revised interior.
R-Line sits at the top of the four-grade lineup, alongside Trend, Life and Style. Volkswagen has confirmed the trim's availability but has not detailed its exclusive styling elements or equipment.
Built on the updated MEB+ architecture, the ID. Tiguan will be produced in Emden, Germany, and sold alongside the combustion-engined and hybrid Tiguan.
More Upright SUV Design And Sculpted Bodywork
The ID. Tiguan introduces Volkswagen's Pure Positive design language, replacing the softer crossover styling of its electric predecessors.
Its exterior uses defined character lines, tightly sculpted surfaces and a more upright SUV profile. Volkswagen has also returned to conventional pull-style exterior door handles, moving away from the previous arrangement. The manufacturer describes the redesigned bodywork as giving the vehicle the visual presence of a larger SUV.
Four Equipment Grades Including R-Line
The new model will be offered in Trend, Life, Style and R-Line specifications. While R-Line is confirmed as an equipment grade, Volkswagen has not established whether it receives a unique suspension setup or particular wheel dimensions.
The release also omits overall length, width, height and wheelbase measurements. Those details will be important in establishing how the new model compares dimensionally with the outgoing ID.4 and ID.5.
Three Digital Displays And Physical Controls
Inside, the ID. Tiguan introduces a 10-inch Digital Cockpit and a 15-inch central infotainment touchscreen. An optional 12-inch passenger display can complete the three-screen arrangement. Privacy technology prevents its content from distracting the driver.
Physical controls return for climate functions, steering-wheel operation and audio adjustments. The new Retro display mode recreates the blue and red instrument graphics of the fourth-generation Golf, while the infotainment screen offers six historical Volkswagen themes.
Electric Powertrains Deliver Up To 299 PS
The range begins with a 140 kW (190 PS) rear-wheel-drive model using a 58 kWh battery. A more powerful rear-wheel-drive version combines 210 kW (286 PS) with a 77 kWh battery.
The 4MOTION all-wheel-drive configuration produces 220 kW (299 PS), also using the larger battery. Volkswagen quotes up to 600 km of WLTP range across the lineup, depending on powertrain and equipment.
Five Seats And Up To 2,000 KG Towing
The ID. Tiguan accommodates five occupants and provides a 534-litre luggage compartment, supplemented by a 32-litre front storage area.
Maximum towing capacity reaches 1,800 kg with the smaller battery and 2,000 kg with the 77 kWh version. Standard one-pedal driving is joined by available Connected Travel Assist, massage seats and a 480-watt Harman Kardon audio system.
German pre-sales begin on October 13, 2026, with range pricing starting at €42,695.
