2027 Spyker C8 Preliator XXV Coupe

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • The C8 Preliator XXV Coupe is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 800 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of torque, paired exclusively with a true manual gearbox — no paddles, no automated substitute — with a top speed exceeding 217 mph.

  • Production is limited to 25 hand-built examples, each individually commissioned, with a hand-built aluminum body on an in-house spaceframe that takes roughly 2,100 hours to construct.

  • The car marks a new era for the 146-year-old Dutch marque following Volodymyr Nosov's investment and a partnership with W Group, a European fintech and blockchain infrastructure company.

Aviation DNA, Taken Further Than Before

Spyker has leaned on aviation-inspired design since merging with the Dutch Aircraft Factory in 1914, and the C8 Preliator XXV Coupe pushes that lineage into new territory. NACA ducts replace the turbine-style intakes of the 2009 C8 Aileron, and a prominent fin tail returns for the first time since it appeared as a subtle nod on the 2006 D12 Peking-to-Paris — this time echoing the fin tail of the original 1919 Spyker C1 Aerocoque directly. The headlights carry the car's own XXV name, and the taillights are shaped to resemble fighter jet afterburners. An isogrid lattice pattern, originally developed to lighten rocket structures while keeping them strong, shows up across the grilles, vents, pedals, exhaust mesh and seat upholstery.

A Body Built by Hand, Panel by Panel

The C8 Preliator XXV Coupe runs on a completely redesigned in-house spaceframe with a hand-built aluminum body, continuing Spyker's long-standing partnership with Coventry Prototype Panels in England, where every exterior panel was newly shaped for this car. Spyker says the build process takes roughly 2,100 hours per car — the steering wheel alone takes one craftsman four hours to stitch with two needles simultaneously. Each chassis number is hand-stamped into the aluminum frame, meaning no two impressions come out identical. The car shown at The Quail, chassis number 270, is finished in a metallic Quail Green with rose gold flakes, rose gold brightwork, and an interior trimmed in orange-brown leather Spyker calls Tuscan Saddle.

Deliberately Analogue, Inside and Out

Where most contemporary hypercar makers have moved toward dual-clutch or automated transmissions, Spyker fitted the C8 Preliator XXV Coupe with a genuine manual gearbox — no paddle shifters, no automated clutch. Digital displays are limited to a single head-up display; everything else in the cabin is analogue and tactile by design. Founder and CEO Victor Muller framed the choice bluntly: drivers decide when to shift, feel every gear change, and live with the consequences of a missed one.

Engineering Details Borrowed From Racing

The fuel tank has been relocated from the sills to a trapezoidal space behind the seats and ahead of the engine, a placement Spyker previously used on its Le Mans race cars. The rear boot has moved to the front, and the engine bay opens fully via a "butterfly mode" mechanism at the push of a button — a detail the company compares to the precision of a Swiss watch movement.

Rarity and What Comes Next

Only 25 examples of the C8 Preliator XXV Coupe will be built, each individually commissioned. The unveiling also marks new ownership structure for the 146-year-old marque, following Volodymyr Nosov's investment and a partnership with W Group, a European fintech and blockchain infrastructure company. Spyker says future plans include the D8 Peking-to-Paris SSUV and a return to endurance GT3 racing, positioning the brand against other ultra-low-volume hand-built hypercar makers like Pagani and Koenigsegg.
