By Lorenzo Bianchi October 12, 2026
The 2027 Smart No.2 Premium marks the return of Smart's compact two seater, measuring 2,746 mm long with a 6.95 meter turning circle.
A rear mounted 60 kW electric motor produces 130 Nm, while the 35.8 kWh LFP battery targets 290 km of WLTP range and supports 65 kW DC charging.
Premium equipment includes a glass roof, heated artificial leather seats, a seven speaker Sennheiser sound system and two digital displays.
Smart No.2 Premium Brings Back the Urban Two Seater
The 2027 Smart No.2 Premium has made its world debut at the Paris Motor Show, bringing back the compact two seat formula that established Smart's reputation in the late 1990s.
Thirty years after the original two seater concept appeared in Paris, the new Smart #2 returns to the same basic idea: a small electric car designed primarily for crowded city streets.
The Premium sits above the Pure and Pure+ versions in the European range, adding more comfort equipment without changing the car's compact dimensions or rear wheel drive layout.
Compact Dimensions With a Familiar Smart Silhouette
At just 2,746 mm long, the Smart #2 retains the short body and wheels positioned near the corners that defined the original Fortwo.
Its 6.95 meter curb to curb turning circle is particularly relevant in narrow streets and tight parking areas.
The exterior keeps the familiar two tone treatment, with a contrasting roof section and rounded bodywork. The front features compact LED headlights and a patterned lower grille.
At the rear, the distinctive split tailgate makes a return, accompanied by circular themed lighting elements.
The Premium version also offers additional exterior color combinations with matching interior finishes.
Two Seat Cabin With Sennheiser Audio
Inside, the Smart #2 Premium uses an open dashboard layout with a continuous bench style seating arrangement and an S shaped cockpit design.
A 10.1 inch central touchscreen handles infotainment functions, accompanied by an 8.8 inch driver display.
Connectivity includes 4G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, supported by an eight year connectivity package.
The Premium adds heated artificial leather seats for both occupants, a glass roof and a dedicated seven speaker Sennheiser sound system.
Another detail is the Smart Pillar, a dashboard mounting point designed to accommodate small accessories and gadgets.
Rear Wheel Drive With a 35.8 kWh Battery
Power comes from a rear mounted electric motor producing 60 kW and 130 Nm of torque.
The 35.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery provides a preliminary WLTP range of up to 290 km.
DC fast charging reaches 65 kW, allowing a 10 to 80 percent charge in approximately 20 minutes under suitable conditions.
The Premium also supports 11 kW AC charging and vehicle to load functionality for powering compatible external devices.
A five link rear suspension, described as a first for its class, works with the floor mounted battery to improve handling and stability.
Safety Features and European Market Positioning
The Smart #2 introduces the Tridion Cell Evo body structure, continuing the reinforced passenger cell approach used by earlier Smart models.
Standard driver assistance includes Smart Pilot Assist, adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go and Highway Assist.
The Premium joins the Pure, Pure+ and limited Couture Edition in the European lineup.
Smart has not announced pricing in the supplied release. The vehicle is also undergoing final homologation, meaning specifications and equipment may change before customer deliveries begin.
