2027 Renault Filante Iconic

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • Renault Filante becomes the design and technology standard-bearer of Renault’s International Game Plan 2027.

  • A 250 hp full hybrid E-Tech powertrain anchors its positioning in the upper end of the D/E crossover segment.

  • South Korea leads the launch in March 2026, followed by Latin America and Gulf markets through early 2027.

A flagship born for markets beyond Europe

The 2027 Renault Filante is positioned deliberately. Conceived as the new international flagship of the diamond brand, it sits at the top of Renault’s global range and plays a central role in the International Game Plan 2027. The strategy is clear: strengthen Renault’s presence in high-value segments outside Europe, with South Korea as the first proving ground, followed by selected markets in Latin America and the Gulf region.

Built in Busan, Filante is aimed squarely at the D/E crossover space, a category that continues to command a strong share of the South Korean market. Renault’s ambition here is not subtle. Filante is intended to reassert the brand’s premium credentials on a global scale.

Exterior proportions and a deliberate stance

Filante’s design is rooted in what Renault internally describes as an “hybridization of genres.” Neither a conventional SUV nor a traditional sedan, its silhouette stretches to 4,915 mm in length, with a long rear overhang and a roofline that tapers with coupe-like intent. The stance is wide and planted, reinforced by 19- or 20-inch wheels and muscular wheel arches.

At the front, the grille becomes a luminous design element in its own right, built around a three-dimensional interpretation of the Renault diamond. LED lighting carries through the car, from the sharply integrated headlamps to an ultra-thin rear light signature that visually widens the tail. The rear window is steeply raked and deliberately left without a wiper, underlining the aerodynamic emphasis.

A cabin focused on calm and space

Inside, Renault Filante leans heavily into comfort and perceived quality. The dashboard is broad and horizontal, dominated by three 12.3-inch panoramic displays forming the OpenR Panorama Screen, complemented by a large augmented-reality head-up display. The effect is technical, but restrained.

Seating follows a lounge concept, with enveloping front seats and generous rear accommodation made possible by a 2,820 mm wheelbase. A fixed panoramic glass roof, ambient lighting, and extensive acoustic treatment contribute to a notably serene environment. Renault highlights tri-zone climate control, air purification, and premium audio systems tuned for low cabin noise.

Hybrid performance without plugs

Under the hood, Filante introduces a new evolution of Renault’s full hybrid E-Tech system, delivering a combined 250 hp. The setup pairs a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with two electric motors and a dedicated DHT Pro transmission. The system prioritizes electric driving at low speeds and in urban conditions, without requiring external charging.

Acceleration is described as immediate and fluid, supported by a combined torque figure of up to 565 Nm and a calibrated chassis designed for comfort at speed.

Market positioning and outlook

With Filante, Renault is not chasing volume alone. This crossover is meant to signal intent: a renewed push into premium territory, tailored for markets where brand perception, space, and electrified efficiency matter.
