The 2027 Ram ProMaster City SLT Cargo starts at $38,900 plus $2,595 destination, with an SLT Passenger Wagon version from $41,600.
SLT trim adds front parking sensors, a wireless phone charger, a heated steering wheel, body-color bumper panels, fog lamps and 17-inch dual-tone aluminum wheels over the base Tradesman.
It shares the same turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine as the rest of the lineup, producing 166 horsepower and 221 lb.-ft. of torque.
Ram's return to the small commercial van segment comes with two trim choices, and the SLT sits above Tradesman as the better-equipped of the pair. Announced August 27 alongside pricing for the full 2027 ProMaster City lineup, the SLT Cargo starts at $38,900 before destination, with a Passenger Wagon version available from $41,600. Ram CEO Matt VanDyke framed the launch around keeping the range's overall starting price under $40,000, a threshold the entry Tradesman Cargo hits but the SLT sits just above.
Exterior design observations
SLT trim brings a handful of visual upgrades over Tradesman: body-color front and rear bumper panels replace the base van's unpainted trim, and fog lamps are added up front.
Vehicle proportions and stance
The SLT shares its footprint with the rest of the ProMaster City lineup: an overall height under 80 inches, which Ram says makes it the only Class 2 commercial van able to access most urban parking garages, combined with a squared-off tumblehome body shape, 54-inch cargo height and more than 48 inches between the rear wheel wells to maximize usable space.
Interior space and technology
Beyond the Tradesman's standard 10-inch digital instrument cluster, 10-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and 5-inch digital rearview mirror, SLT trim adds a wireless phone charger and a heated steering wheel — small comfort upgrades on top of the heated front seats already standard across the range. Tilt-and-telescoping steering, steering-wheel audio controls, one-touch express windows and an electronic shifter also carry over from Tradesman.
Powertrain or performance details
Every 2027 ProMaster City, SLT included, uses the same turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, producing 166 horsepower and 221 lb.-ft. of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic sending drive to the front wheels. Ram positions the setup as a balance between traction and cargo-carrying ability rather than outright speed.
Practical usability features
SLT's most functional addition is front parking sensors, on top of the ParkView rear backup camera and ParkSense rear parking sensors that come standard across the range. Cargo capacity reaches more than 167 cubic feet with a 111-inch load floor, payload is rated at 2,000 lbs., and towing tops out at 2,000 lbs. with the available Class 3 trailer hitch. SLT buyers can still choose between cargo and Passenger Wagon body styles, with the wagon seating up to eight when optioned with third-row seating, and can pick rear swing doors or the segment-exclusive rear liftgate.
Market positioning
At $38,900 to start, SLT sits roughly $1,500 above the equivalent Tradesman Cargo, positioning it as the trim for buyers who want a handful of comfort and convenience extras — the 17-inch dual-tone wheels among them — without moving into a different vehicle class.
