The new 911 Carrera S with MT Package restores the six-speed manual to the Carrera S, though the option is exclusive to North America, a market Porsche says pushed hard for it.

A Distinct Stance, Not Just a Gearbox Swap

This isn't a case of dropping a manual into an otherwise unchanged car. The MT Package is rear-wheel drive only and adds rear-axle steering, a PASM Sport suspension that drops ride height by 10 mm, and unique exhaust tuning as standard fitment. Center-lock wheels appear on a Carrera S for the first time, shaving more than 17 pounds versus the standard setup. A SportDesign front fascia, titanium exhaust outlets with black trim, and a red "S" badge on the rear — a detail Porsche says came from a modification popular among North American owners — round out the visual separation from the standard car.

Cabin Built Around the Shift Lever

Inside, a walnut shift handle anchors the analog theme, backed by standard four-way Sport Seats Plus. Buyers chasing more support or less weight can step up to 14-way or 18-way Sport Seats Plus, or go further with folding lightweight carbon fiber bucket seats. Optional interior and exterior packages push the personalization further still — think Plaid Sport-Tex seat centers with Chalk stripes, Ceramica trim with black brushed aluminum accents, and puddle lights that project the six-speed shift pattern onto the ground.

Power and Weight Numbers That Matter

The 473-hp 3.0-liter twin-turbo flat-six carries over from the standard Carrera S, giving the MT Package a notable power advantage over the Carrera T while staying close on weight — the coupe comes in at 3,327 lbs., just 11 lbs. more than the T. Braking hardware matches other Carrera S variants, with 408 mm front and 380 mm rear cast iron discs on six- and four-piston fixed calipers respectively. Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes remain optional, another way this car can be pushed further toward the track-focused end of the range than the Carrera T allows.

Practicality Through Personalization

Beyond the performance hardware, the MT Package taps into the full 911 customization catalog: 17 exterior paint colors, Paint to Sample and Paint to Sample Plus where available, and more than 70 leather interior configurations. That breadth means two Carrera S MT Package cars could look almost nothing alike, which fits how Porsche tends to sell its enthusiast-oriented trims.

With this addition, Porsche now offers seven manual 911 variants in North America, bookended by the entry-level Carrera T and the motorsport-flavored GT3 family.
