2027 Opel GSE 27FE

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • The 2027 Opel GSE 27FE is an all-electric GEN4 Formula E race car developed for Opel's first season as a factory team in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

  • Its final racing livery combines black, silver and GSE Yellow, with a metallic silver centre spine, exposed carbon surfaces and pixelated Lightspeed Stripes.

  • Mitch Evans and Théo Pourchaire lead Opel's factory driver lineup, with Sophia Flörsch serving as test and development driver ahead of the Jeddah season opener in December 2026.

Opel GSE 27FE Makes Its Formula E Livery Debut in Paris

The 2027 Opel GSE 27FE has received its final racing colours ahead of the German manufacturer's debut season in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show on October 12, 2026, the all-electric GEN4 race car introduces a distinctive black, silver and yellow colour scheme developed by Opel's Global Brand Design team in Rüsselsheim.

The design builds on the prototype livery used during testing, with revised graphics intended to communicate airflow, electrical energy and efficiency.

It also marks Opel's first factory entry into Formula E, bringing the company's GSE performance identity into international electric single-seater racing.

Black, Silver and GSE Yellow Exterior Design

Three prominent colour blocks establish the GSE 27FE's appearance.

Black, silver and Opel GSE Yellow reference the manufacturer's historic motorsport liveries while creating a recognisable identity for electric racing.

A metallic silver spine runs along the centre of the car, visually connecting its front and rear sections.

The silver treatment is a new addition to the final design, distinguishing it from the earlier testing version.

Exposed carbon surfaces provide contrast against the yellow sections, while small identification graphics include a Designed in Germany signature and Opel GSE 27FE lettering.

Lightspeed Stripes and GEN4 Racing Proportions

Pixelated Lightspeed Stripes extend across the bodywork, following the curved surfaces of the single-seater.

The graphics are intended to represent energy flow, data and the immediate response associated with electric propulsion.

Their placement also emphasises the car's proportions and creates a consistent visual pattern across the racing bodywork.

The design continues a styling approach previously explored on the Opel Mokka GSE Rally in 2025.

Opel has not disclosed individual wheel dimensions, aerodynamic measurements or suspension specifications in the supplied announcement.

Driver Cockpit and Racing Development

The GSE 27FE is designed for competition rather than passenger use.

Its driver-focused configuration forms part of the GEN4 Formula E racing platform, although Opel has not detailed the cockpit instrumentation, steering controls or interior equipment.

Development has included private testing, simulator sessions and test bench work as the team prepares for its championship entry.

Factory drivers Mitch Evans and Théo Pourchaire will compete for Opel, supported by test and development driver Sophia Flörsch.

Electric Powertrain and Formula E Performance

The GSE 27FE uses an all-electric GEN4 racing platform.

Its revised exterior graphics highlight the relationship between electrical energy, aerodynamic airflow and racing efficiency.

The focus of the Paris presentation was the completed competition livery rather than a detailed technical specification.

Jeddah Racing Debut and Championship Schedule

Following official testing at Jarama, Spain, in mid-November, Opel is scheduled to make its Formula E racing debut in Jeddah on December 18 and 19, 2026.

The championship calendar comprises 21 races across 13 cities on four continents.

A home event in Berlin is scheduled for May 8 and 9, 2027.

The GSE 27FE represents Opel's entry into the GEN4 era, connecting its established motorsport identity with the manufacturer's electric performance programme.
