2027 Nissan Z Performance

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • Z Performance gains a redesigned front bumper and grille inspired by classic Nissan sports cars.

  • Larger-diameter monotube shock absorbers improve ride quality and handling consistency.

  • New forged 19-inch wheels, tan interior option, and wireless charging expand equipment offerings.

The Nissan Z has never needed an introduction. More than five decades after the original arrived, the formula remains familiar: rear-wheel drive, a twin-turbo V6, and styling that borrows heavily from the brand's sports car history.

For 2027, Nissan hasn't rewritten that formula. Instead, it has focused on refining it. The latest updates to the 2027 Nissan Z Performance are less about chasing headlines and more about addressing the details that enthusiasts tend to notice after spending time behind the wheel.

A Familiar Shape With New Front-End Details

At first glance, the changes are subtle. The overall silhouette remains unchanged, preserving the long hood and short rear deck that have defined the current-generation Z.

Look closer, however, and the front end tells a different story. Nissan has redesigned the bumper and grille, drawing inspiration from classic Nissan sports cars. A body-color bar now cuts across the grille opening, while a new Z emblem replaces the traditional Nissan badge on the nose.

The updates aren't purely cosmetic. Nissan says the revised bumper, grille, and internal ducting have been shaped to improve cooling airflow while also reducing aerodynamic lift and drag.

The Z Performance also receives redesigned forged 19-inch wheels featuring black spokes and a machined-finish rim. A new Shinkai Green Pearl Metallic paint option joins the color palette, paired exclusively with a Super Black roof. The color references the green seen on the original S30-generation Z, though interpreted through a more modern finish.

Technology And Comfort Receive Attention

Inside, the changes are focused on everyday usability.

A new tan interior option becomes available on the Z Performance, extending across the seats, lower door panels, dashboard, and center console. The color choice gives the cabin a different character from the darker interiors typically associated with sports cars.

Wireless charging has also been upgraded. Nissan introduces a Qi2-compatible charging system with magnetic alignment and an integrated cooling fan designed to maintain charging performance across a broader range of devices.

Chassis Refinements Target Consistency

The biggest changes are found beneath the bodywork.

Nissan engineers fitted larger-diameter monotube shock absorbers to the Z Performance. The goal wasn't to make the car feel dramatically different. Instead, the revisions are intended to improve vibration damping, resulting in smoother ride quality and more predictable handling responses.

Another update addresses track use. Every 2027 Nissan Z receives a revised fuel tank design that helps maintain fuel supply around the fuel pump during sustained high-G cornering. That change is aimed at delivering more consistent engine performance during demanding driving conditions.

Refining An Established Sports Car

The 2027 Nissan Z Performance arrives alongside broader updates to the Z lineup, including changes to the Z NISMO. Yet the Performance grade occupies a particularly important position within the range.

It remains the version that balances everyday usability with genuine sports car capability. Rather than introducing dramatic mechanical changes, Nissan has concentrated on refining the driving experience, improving chassis composure, and modernizing selected technology features.

For existing Z fans, the approach feels familiar. The fundamentals stay the same, while the details continue to evolve.
