The 2027 Nissan Pathfinder Special Edition celebrates the SUV's 40th anniversary with heritage-inspired styling, red exterior accents and exclusive black and burgundy TailorFit upholstery referencing the original 1987 Pathfinder.
A 3.5-litre V6 produces 284 horsepower and 259 lb-ft of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive and Intelligent AWD are available, with towing capacity reaching 6,000 pounds.
The anniversary model includes black 20-inch alloy wheels, second-row captain's chairs, a panoramic moonroof and Bose 12-speaker audio. US pricing starts at $47,390, with dealership arrivals in November 2026.
Nissan Pathfinder Special Edition Celebrates 40 Years
The 2027 Nissan Pathfinder Special Edition arrives as a tribute to four decades of the nameplate, with burgundy interior accents, red exterior lettering and additional equipment aimed at family use.
Nissan introduced the original Pathfinder for the 1987 model year as a compact two-door SUV. Five generations later, the three-row model occupies a different part of the market, but the anniversary edition deliberately looks back to its earliest years.
The Special Edition joins the 2027 Pathfinder range in November 2026, positioned between the SL and Platinum grades on price.
Burgundy Cabin Recalls the Original 1987 Pathfinder
The clearest reference to the first Pathfinder is inside. Black and burgundy TailorFit upholstery revisits the burgundy cloth seating used in the 1987 SUV, but with a contemporary two-tone treatment.
Nissan also fits second-row captain's chairs, creating a seven-seat configuration rather than the eight-seat layout available elsewhere in the range.
Rear door sunshades and a panoramic moonroof add to its family equipment.
A 12-speaker Bose audio system is included. Every 2027 Pathfinder also receives a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while USB-C ports are provided for the first two rows.
Red Lettering and Black 20 Inch Alloy Wheels
Outside, the anniversary theme is comparatively restrained. Red accents appear around the vehicle, notably in the PATHFINDER lettering across the liftgate.
Black 20-inch alloy wheels provide another distinction.
Nissan has not announced unique body dimensions, suspension settings or a separate aerodynamic package for the Special Edition.
The anniversary treatment concentrates on colour and equipment rather than extensive changes to the fifth-generation SUV.
284 HP V6 and 6,000 Pound Towing Capacity
Power comes from the familiar 3.5-litre V6, rated at 284 horsepower and 259 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission.
The Special Edition includes a tow hitch receiver, allowing a stated towing capacity of up to 6,000 pounds.
That compares with the standard Pathfinder towing rating of 3,500 pounds, although towing limits depend on configuration.
Front-wheel drive and Intelligent AWD versions are available. Nissan has not identified a unique powertrain tune or different performance figures for the anniversary model.
Three Row Practicality and Safety Technology
The Pathfinder offers up to 16.6 cubic feet of luggage space behind its third row and 80.5 cubic feet with the rear seats folded.
Access to the back is helped by a second-row tilting function. Nissan's LATCH AND GLIDE system allows the second-row seats to move with an installed, unoccupied child restraint.
Safety Shield 360 is standard across the Pathfinder range, which also earned a 2026 IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ designation.
November 2026 US Launch and Pricing
In the United States, the Special Edition starts at $47,390 with front-wheel drive or $49,390 with Intelligent AWD.
Both prices exclude the $1,575 destination and handling charge.
The broader 2027 Pathfinder lineup starts at $39,990, with the anniversary model joining Rock Creek and Platinum versions that address different customer priorities.
