2027 Mercedes-Maybach S 680 Created by LeBron James
By Lorenzo Bianchi August 12, 2026
The Mercedes-Maybach S 680, created through MANUFAKTUR Made to Measure, features a light ivory exterior, blue "Stormy Weather" Nappa leather and James's personal emblem in place of the V12 badge.
The vehicle debuts at Mercedes-Benz's new Future Classics Auction House during Pebble Beach Automotive Week before heading to auction.
Proceeds from the sale will benefit the LeBron James Family Foundation's I PROMISE program.
Mercedes-Benz is using Pebble Beach Automotive Week to debut its new Future Classics Auction House, and the centerpiece is a car built around one very specific story: a near-identical twin of LeBron James's personal Mercedes-Maybach S 680, created through the brand's MANUFAKTUR Made to Measure program. The project began as James's own personalization request and has since become a collector vehicle in its own right, one that will head to auction later this year to benefit the LeBron James Family Foundation.
An Exterior Built Around One Man's Story
The S 680's exterior is finished in a MANUFAKTUR-exclusive light ivory non-metallic paint, a color choice tied directly to James's personal vision for the car rather than a standard Maybach offering. Beyond the paint, the most distinctive touch sits where the badge usually goes: James's personal emblem replaces the traditional V12 badge on the hood, a detail that signals this car's identity before anyone even opens a door.
Personal References Woven Into Every Surface
Inside, blue "Stormy Weather" Nappa leather pairs with porcelain contrast stitching, and the cabin carries discreet engravings referencing Akron, Ohio — James's hometown — along with references to his family. Mercedes-Benz describes the project as translating personal references into tangible, touchable details rather than treating customization as an abstract marketing concept, and the specifics here back that framing up: this isn't generic trim-level personalization, it's a car built around one person's biography.
A Showcase for a Broader Personalization Program
This S 680 exists as much to demonstrate MANUFAKTUR Made to Measure as it does to honor James specifically. The program lets customers work directly with Mercedes-Benz specialists to turn a personal idea, color reference or symbolic detail into a finished vehicle, and Mercedes-Benz opened its first U.S. hub for the program earlier this year at Mercedes-Benz Studio Los Angeles in Beverly Hills — only the second such location worldwide after the Center of Excellence in Sindelfingen, Germany.
Positioned Within a Broader Pebble Beach Presence
The James-personalized S 680 sits alongside other Future Classics Auction House vehicles including an AMG PureSpeed, an AMG G 63 Galactic Pearl and an AMG ONE, part of Mercedes-Benz's argument for which of today's vehicles will become tomorrow's collector icons. It's displayed against the backdrop of Mercedes-Benz Classic's own presence at the event, which includes a restored 1905 American Mercedes and the one-of-one 1938 Mercedes-Benz 540K Streamliner — a pairing that puts 140 years of brand history on either side of one very personal, very modern build.
A Charitable Purpose Behind the Showcase
Once its Pebble Beach appearance ends, the vehicle moves to auction, with proceeds supporting the LeBron James Family Foundation's I PROMISE program, which funds education, housing, healthcare, homeownership, job training and financial literacy initiatives — giving the car a purpose beyond its role as a design showcase.
