2027 Mercedes-Maybach S 580 Manufaktur
By Lorenzo Bianchi July 7, 2026
MB.OS and next-gen MBUX bring AI-driven digital experience to Maybach.
Expanded MANUFAKTUR programme enables near-limitless personalization.
Electrified six, eight, and V12 engines deliver refined, effortless power.
Exterior design leans into presence and quiet detail
The 2027 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class MANUFAKTUR doesn’t chase attention in obvious ways. It builds presence through detail.
The grille is larger now, about 20 percent, and it sets the tone immediately. It can be paired with a luminous surround, along with subtle lighting touches across the car, including the C-pillar emblem and bonnet star in certain markets.
Look closer, and the detailing becomes more intricate. The Maybach wordmark sits illuminated within the grille frame, while the headlamps carry faint rose gold accents. Even the wheels add their own theatre, with a floating centre star that remains upright as the car moves.
Nothing feels exaggerated. The effect is controlled, almost restrained, but unmistakably Maybach.
Proportions remain traditional but more commanding
The overall shape hasn’t shifted dramatically. It’s still the long, low silhouette expected of a flagship luxury saloon.
What changes is how that shape is presented. The stance feels more composed, helped by new wheel designs and subtle surface refinements. Two-tone finishes and new colours, including nautic blue metallic, give the car more visual range without altering its identity.
The proportions continue to prioritise rear passenger space. This is still a car designed around being driven in, not just driving.
Interior evolves into a quieter, more digital space
Inside, the changes are more substantial.
The cabin feels closer to a lounge than a traditional car interior. New open-pore wood finishes, including oak, sit alongside softer lighting and cleaner digital surfaces. The overall impression is calmer, more cohesive.
MB.OS makes its debut here, paired with the latest MBUX system. The interface is more fluid, with a Zero Layer layout and a virtual assistant that can handle more natural conversations. It draws on AI systems such as ChatGPT and Google Gemini, allowing it to respond in a more contextual way.
In the rear, twin 13.1-inch displays and redesigned controls give passengers full access to climate, entertainment, and seat functions. It’s a space designed to be used, not just admired.
There’s also a shift in materials. For the first time, a leather-free interior option is offered, using a mix of ARTICO and textile finishes. It doesn’t feel like a compromise. More a different interpretation of luxury.
Powertrains focus on smooth delivery rather than numbers
The updated S-Class range introduces revised six- and eight-cylinder engines, all supported by mild-hybrid systems.
At the upper end, the V8 now produces 395 kW with an additional 17 kW boost, while the V12 remains available in selected markets. These figures matter less than how the car delivers them. Smooth, consistent, almost effortless.
A plug-in hybrid variant adds an electric range of around 100 km, offering quieter, emissions-free driving in urban conditions.
Ride comfort has also been refined. The updated AIRMATIC suspension now uses predictive damping, adjusting in advance based on road data shared through connected systems. The result is a ride that feels composed, even over uneven surfaces.
Practical luxury extends beyond the obvious
Practicality here isn’t about cargo space. It’s about how the car is used day to day.
Automatic comfort doors open and close with minimal effort. Rear passengers benefit from executive seating, a refrigerated compartment, and even dedicated holders for silver-plated champagne flutes.
These aren’t essential features. But they define the experience.
Positioned as a fully bespoke flagship
The MANUFAKTUR programme plays a central role in the new model.
With more than 150 exterior colours and over 400 interior combinations, the S-Class can be tailored in ways that go well beyond standard configuration. For those who want more, the Made to Measure programme allows deeper customisation, down to stitching and material finishes.
The 2027 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class MANUFAKTUR doesn’t aim to change what the S-Class represents. It refines it further.
More personal, more digital, and slightly more expressive. Still built around the same idea of quiet, controlled luxury.
