2027 Mercedes-Benz GLA Hybrid H247
By Lorenzo Bianchi July 30, 2026
The GLA Hybrid arrives in early 2027, offered initially in two power levels with either front- or all-wheel drive, alongside the electric GLA models already orderable from 30th July 2026.
Power comes from a newly developed, electrified 1.5-litre turbo four-cylinder integrated with a 48-volt, 1.3kWh lithium-ion system delivering up to 22 kW of electric boost through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The hybrid can drive purely on electric power at city speeds, sail with the engine decoupled above 100 km/h, and recover up to 25 kW of energy through regenerative braking in any gear.
A Genuine 2027 Model, Unlike Its Electric Siblings
The source material doesn't reference an "H247" chassis code anywhere, so that part of the target naming isn't confirmed here. The "2027" timing, however, checks out for this specific variant: the release explicitly states the GLA Hybrid arrives "early 2027," distinct from the three electric GLA models covered elsewhere in the same document, which launch in 2026. This piece focuses specifically on what's confirmed for the hybrid.
Sharing the Shape, Not Yet Detailed Separately
The release doesn't break out hybrid-specific exterior dimensions separate from the general GLA redesign — lower stance, longer wheelbase, muscular shoulder lines, and flush-mounted wheels — described for the model line as a whole. One detail is hybrid-specific: rather than the illuminated grille reserved for electric models, the GLA Hybrid gets what Mercedes calls a "star grille," featuring 150 hot-stamped chrome-look stars forming the brand's signature pattern, with an illuminated LED surround standard from PROGRESSIVE Line trim upward.
Interior Carried Over From the Line
The source material doesn't detail hybrid-specific interior trim beyond what applies across the redesigned GLA generally — the optional full-width MBUX Superscreen, floating center console, and Burmester 3D sound system are described for the model family rather than singled out for the hybrid.
The Powertrain Doing the Actual Work
This is where the hybrid gets genuinely detailed treatment. A newly developed, electrified 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine is built for both output and efficiency, according to Mercedes, with an electric motor adding up to 22 kW of boost. That motor is integrated directly into a new electrified eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (8F-eDCT), which Mercedes says keeps the whole system compact and efficient. A 48-volt lithium-ion battery with up to 1.3 kWh of capacity powers the setup. At city speeds, the hybrid can run purely on electric power; above 100 km/h, it can sail with the combustion engine decoupled whenever less than 22 kW is needed, and the electric motor can boost or recover energy in all eight gears, recapturing up to 25 kW under braking.
Off-Road-Ready Practicality
4MATIC-equipped GLA models, hybrid included by inference from the shared drive-mode list, get a TERRAIN driving mode alongside ECO, COMFORT, SPORT, and INDIVIDUAL, adjusting drivetrain, steering, and braking characteristics for loose surfaces like gravel or sand. An optional "transparent hood" feature offers a virtual view beneath the vehicle to aid maneuvering off paved roads. Cargo capacity and towing figures cited elsewhere in the release apply to the GLA range broadly and aren't broken out specifically for the hybrid variant.
