2027 Kia Telluride HEV X-Line

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • 329 horsepower and improved efficiency are provided by the new turbo-hybrid drivetrain.

  • Enhanced comfort features and a larger interior with more cargo space

  • The X-Line offers more ground clearance, blacked-out styling, and improved capability.

Evolution of Design with a Clear Goal

The brand's flagship SUV, the 2027 Kia Telluride HEV X-Line, made its debut at the 2025 Los Angeles Auto Show. Even at a glance, the second-generation model carries familiar proportions, yet the sheetmetal tells a different story. The body is longer and slightly more refined, leaning toward a cleaner form influenced by the brand’s Opposites United design philosophy. A broad hood and vertical lighting set the visual tone up front, while a reduction in drag—from 0.33 to 0.30—suggests the design work wasn’t simply aesthetic.

For the X-Line model, blacked-out accents frame the profile: wheel arches, roof rails, D-pillars, and mirrors. The trim’s raised stance, unique 21-inch wheels, and squared-off front bumper push it toward the more adventurous end of the family lineup. Kia’s designers use angled fender creases and upward-flowing lines to give the SUV a sense of lift, an effect that becomes clearer in the new flush door handles shared with EV6 and EV9.

A More Spacious and Quiet Cabin

Inside, the Telluride leans into luxury cues without drifting into excess. The cabin grows alongside the body, offering more legroom in the second and third rows and added cargo capacity—up to 86.9 cu. ft. with both rear rows folded. The wraparound dash stretches into the doors with a continuous curve, while wood textures warm the space. Hidden door handles and a redesigned console grip add small but intentional touches.

Passenger comfort steps up with wider relaxation seats up front, optional Ergo Motion massage, and ventilated captain’s chairs in the second row. Even the third row gets available heating. Expanded sound-deadening—triple door seals, more insulation, thicker glass—aims to deliver a calmer experience on long drives. Storage solutions, from the sliding tray to the movable trunk dividers, continue the practicality that made the original Telluride a success.

Technology Built for Modern Families

The X-Line benefits from the new ccNC infotainment system and available dual 12.3-inch displays, packed with over-the-air update capability. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. A larger 12-inch head-up display, the enhanced Digital Rear View Mirror, and the Meridian 14-speaker audio system expand the technology options.

Entertainment and data services bring Disney+, Netflix, and YouTube streaming to passengers, a sign of where family-oriented SUVs are now expected to go. Kia’s revamped Digital Key 2.0 and the myQ connected garage integration push convenience a little further.

Hybrid Powertrain with Stronger Performance

The headline change is the turbo-hybrid option. The 2.5-liter turbo paired with electric assistance produces 329 hp and 339 lb-ft of torque—significantly stronger than the outgoing V6. Kia estimates 35 mpg combined and a 600-mile driving range. The hybrid uses a 6-speed automatic and available all-wheel drive with electronic dynamic torque vectoring control for improved precision.

The gasoline-only 2.5-liter turbo remains available, now making 274 hp and 311 lb-ft. Towing capacity reaches 5,000 lbs for ICE models and 4,500 lbs for the hybrid.

X-Line Capability Upgraded

The X-Line’s raised roof rails, AWD tuning, and blacked-out exterior pieces define its character, but capability is where it separates itself. Ground clearance increases, and with the Electronic Limited Slip Differential, the system can manage torque across both axles and individual wheels. For tougher use cases, Kia reserves the more extreme off-road hardware for the X-Pro model, but X-Line remains the balanced “adventure-lite” option in the Telluride family.
