2027 Kia Seltos GT-Line Australian Version

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • Hybrid-only powertrain across all Australian variants.

  • Larger body and wheelbase improve cabin space.

  • Dual 12.3-inch screens and updated interior tech.

Wider stance and new lighting define the update

The 2027 Kia Seltos GT-Line Australian Version doesn’t drift far from what people already know. It just refines it.

Up front, the grille stretches wider, paired with Kia’s star map lighting signature. It gives the nose a more horizontal look, less upright than before. The lighting feels more integrated now, not just added on.

Flush door handles are part of the update too. Small detail, but it changes how the side profile reads. Cleaner, a bit more resolved.

At the rear, the taillight signature is new. It runs across the width, tying both ends together in a way the previous car didn’t quite manage. It’s a subtle shift, but noticeable when seen at night.

Slightly larger proportions improve presence

The Kia Seltos has grown, though not dramatically.

Length increases to 4,430 mm, up by 45 mm. Width also expands, now at 1,830 mm. The wheelbase stretches by 60 mm, which matters more than the overall length. It pushes the cabin space further out rather than just extending the overhangs.

Height drops slightly. About 30 mm lower than before. That change pulls the stance down a bit, making the car look more planted without altering its SUV identity.

From the side, the proportions feel more balanced now. Less top-heavy, more settled.

Interior shifts toward a more digital layout

Inside is where the biggest change happens.

The dashboard moves to a twin-screen setup, both displays measuring 12.3 inches. One handles instrumentation, the other infotainment. It’s a layout that’s becoming common across Kia’s lineup, and it fits here without feeling forced.

There’s also a move toward cleaner surfaces. Fewer physical buttons, more reliance on digital controls. Over-the-air updates are supported, so the system can evolve over time.

The gear selector switches to a column-mounted Shift-by-Wire setup. That frees up space in the centre console, which is now less cluttered.

Rear seat comfort improves as well. The second row can recline up to 24 degrees, adjustable forward and backward. It’s a small touch, but it changes how usable the back seats feel on longer drives.

Hybrid-only setup defines the powertrain direction

One thing is clear. The 2027 Seltos in Australia will be hybrid-only.

That decision is tied to emissions requirements and long-term planning. The system meets Euro 6d standards, which effectively future-proofs the model for upcoming regulations.

Kia also introduces its Smart Regenerative Braking System 3.0. It manages energy recovery more actively, adjusting based on driving conditions rather than staying fixed.

Exact output figures aren’t detailed here, but the direction is obvious. Efficiency becomes as important as performance.

Local tuning focuses on real-world driving

Beyond the powertrain, there’s local work done specifically for Australia.

Every variant receives Kia Australia’s ride and handling tune. That’s been a consistent part of the brand’s approach in the region, and it shows up again here.

The aim is to make the car feel stable across different surfaces. Not just smooth roads, but rougher country conditions as well.

It’s not something you notice immediately. More something that becomes clear over time.

Positioned as a broader appeal SUV

The 2027 Kia Seltos GT-Line Australian Version is set to arrive in Q4 2026.

It sits in a familiar space. Compact SUV, wide audience, balanced focus between practicality and tech.

The hybrid-only move is the biggest shift. Everything else builds around that. Slightly larger body, more digital cabin, refined design.

No pricing yet. That will come later.

For now, it looks like a steady evolution rather than a reset.
