2027 Jeep Wrangler Smoky Mountain
By Lorenzo Bianchi August 21, 2026
The Smoky Mountain edition is built on the four-door Wrangler Willys platform and costs just $80 more than a comparably equipped Willys.
It's offered with either the 2.0-liter or 3.6-liter automatic powertrain and rides on standard 33-inch BFGoodrich KO2 tires, with 35-inch tires available.
Jeep unveiled the special edition at Smoky Mountain Invasion in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, marking the 10th installment of its Twelve 4 Twelve Wrangler series.
A Special Edition Tied to a Specific Gathering
Jeep picked its venue carefully for this one. The Smoky Mountain special edition debuted at Smoky Mountain Invasion, an annual event in Pigeon Forge that pulls in nearly 50,000 attendees and roughly 20,000 Jeep vehicles, according to the brand. It's the tenth Wrangler in Jeep's Twelve 4 Twelve series, a program built around releasing themed editions tied to specific enthusiast events rather than dropping them all at once. The Smoky Mountain builds off the four-door Wrangler Willys platform, giving it Trail Rated hardware as a starting point rather than an afterthought.
Exterior Details Lean Into the Setting
The design cues point directly at the Smoky Mountains themselves. Hood-side decals reference the region's ridgelines and trails, while 17-inch wheels finished in smoky black are meant to echo the area's mist-covered peaks. A gloss black seven-slot grille sits up front, and the hardtop and fender flares come in body color rather than the usual black plastic — Jeep describes it as a more integrated look, with a Sky One-touch power top available for buyers who want it.
Trail Hardware Isn't an Afterthought
Underneath the styling, the Smoky Mountain keeps the mechanical pieces that matter for actual off-roading: standard steel rock rails, Dana 44 front and rear axles, a locking rear differential and a 4.10 axle ratio, plus a trailer hitch. Tires start at 33 inches on standard BFGoodrich KO2 All-Terrain rubber, with a 35-inch option available for buyers who want more clearance. Jeep isn't treating this as a pure appearance package — the running gear underneath still does the work the Wrangler is known for.
Cabin Details Carry the Regional Theme Further
Inside, Premium Black Ferndale cloth seats get a rugged embossed texture with deeper side bolsters, and the upper bolsters carry a 1941 Willys parachute graphic tied to Jeep's "drop" collection. Terracotta stitching and metallic Blaze Orange accents show up throughout, a nod Jeep says is inspired by sunrise over the mountains. A wrapped instrument panel with an Addax technical pattern, anodized carbon trim rings with a smoked finish, and a rear swing gate plaque featuring a star-filled night sky graphic round out the commemorative touches. A shifter medallion depicting a mother bear and cub adds a wildlife-specific detail that's hard to find on any other Wrangler trim.
Comfort Items Come Standard
Heated seats, a heated steering wheel, automatic dual-zone climate control and a universal garage door opener are all standard on the Smoky Mountain edition — equipment that typically costs extra on comparable Wrangler trims.
Pricing Makes the Case
Jeep is pricing the Smoky Mountain package at just $80 over a popularly equipped Wrangler Willys, which is a notably small premium for a special edition carrying this much unique trim. Orders are open now, with the package available across both engine options.
