2027 Hyundai Staria Lounge Australian Version

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • New flagship seven-seat 2027 Hyundai Staria Lounge introduces a 1.6-litre hybrid powertrain.

  • Refreshed exterior gains integrated horizon lighting, revised front styling and exclusive 18-inch wheels.

  • Premium cabin adds Nappa leather, relaxation seats, Digital Key 2 and Hyundai's latest infotainment system.

2027 Hyundai Staria Lounge Brings Hybrid Comfort to the Family Van Segment

The 2027 Hyundai Staria Lounge arrives as the new flagship of Hyundai's people mover range, pairing a refreshed exterior with an upgraded interior and a new hybrid powertrain. Sitting above the standard eight-seat Staria, the Lounge adopts an exclusive seven-seat layout and introduces a collection of premium features aimed at buyers wanting extra comfort without giving up the practicality that has defined the model.

Refined styling gives the Staria a sharper look

At first glance, the overall silhouette remains unmistakably Staria. Hyundai has instead focused on refining familiar design elements rather than dramatically changing them. The front fascia receives a revised bumper and grille, while a full-width integrated horizon light stretches across the nose to visually widen the vehicle. Exclusive 18-inch alloy wheels distinguish the Lounge from the rest of the range, while satin chrome door handles, privacy glass and subtle exterior trim details reinforce its flagship position. Vertical taillights and the model's distinctive one-curve body shape continue unchanged, preserving the futuristic appearance that has become a Staria trademark.

Seven-seat cabin focuses on passenger comfort

Inside, Hyundai has concentrated on making the Lounge feel noticeably more premium. The seven-seat layout replaces the standard eight-seat arrangement and introduces second-row relaxation seats, complemented by Nappa leather upholstery available in several colour choices. Heated and ventilated seats are fitted for the first two rows, while suede headlining, acoustic laminated glass and additional sound insulation help create a quieter cabin.

The dashboard also benefits from Hyundai's latest Connected Car Navigation Cockpit infotainment system, joined by a steering column-mounted Shift-by-Wire selector, Digital Key 2 smartphone access and Bluelink connected services with over-the-air software updates.

Hybrid power headlines the flagship

Power comes from Hyundai's new 1.6-litre T-GDi hybrid system, producing a combined 180kW and 304Nm through a six-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels. Hyundai says the hybrid is intended to deliver a smoother, more responsive driving experience while also improving efficiency compared with the petrol-powered model. The refreshed suspension also introduces revised bushings, while hybrid variants receive e-Motion Drive technologies designed to improve ride quality, stability and handling over uneven roads and during cornering.

A premium option in the large people mover market

The 2027 Hyundai Staria Lounge expands the range rather than replacing existing models, giving buyers the choice of diesel, petrol or hybrid power depending on the variant. Priced from $73,740 before on-road costs, the Lounge targets families and executive shuttle operators looking for a premium people mover with generous passenger accommodation and updated technology. It also strengthens Hyundai's position in Australia's growing market for high-end multi-purpose vehicles, where comfort and versatility increasingly carry as much weight as outright seating capacity.
